Hi all,
What is your opinion regarding the best low watt mini/compact fridge out there? My budget won't allow for anything more than about $500, so perhaps maybe not the top of the line models.

If a low watt fridge is not possible without having to spend upwards of $700 or more, does anyone have opinions regarding Koolatron-type coolers? Aside from that, my only other option would be getting something like a Coleman Extreme cooler and then deal with having to regularly restock with ice.

I'm getting closer to making the decision to switch to this fun and exciting lifestyle, but I want to make sure I've researched it as much as possible before jumping in. Thanks for your patience with all these nonstop questions.

I don't know if you are near the Seattle area, but here is an Engal for $500 in Craigslist ... http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/for/2563803746.html

I'm looking for a low watt compressor fridge/freezer too. Unfortunately, that Engal is too big for my space.

Suanne
Thanks, Suanne. No, I'm in So Cal. Since you're also looking into the same thing as me, what has your research turned up so far?
It's probably a scam. Doesn't even know how to spell ENGEL. If its not a scam, its a great price...lol

I've seen a lot of used dometics on craigslist in the seattle area. But, haven't been serious enough yet to go out and check them out, or to see if the smaller ones were small enough. Nor, have I checked if their power usage is as low as I want.

I set up an RSS feed so I get emails whenever someone posts something that meets my search criteria. This is the first Engel I've seen and I've had that RSS feed set up for a couple of months. It obviously caught my attention enough to go out a measure my space :)

Good luck to you ... and me too ...
