Was cleaning my van today when I heard a slight noise behind me. I turned thinking it was a dear only to find a big bear looking around for food.

That was less than 50 yards from me. He could've walked right behind me, tap me on the shoulder and say hi! Have anything good to eat? A sandwich, pizza, grilled chicken?

That's a cub maybe 175 pounds. To be a real official close encounter the bear must be over 500 pounds and less than 20 feet away.

Yeah Blackies can be very curious, and that makes them far more dangerous then Browns. A hungry young bear might want to find out what you taste like, see whether to add you too his list of edibles found in the wild, lol.
