Federal law requires banks to verify a land based address before they can issue an account or a credit card for anyone. The banks use a database that allows them to enter an address. After the address is entered the bank can see if the address is residential or commercial. We have been using a mail forwarding service in South Dakota for 11 years but the building is not listed as residential. It is listed as commercial. USPS mail boxes don't work either. I established a bank account before we sold our home. Last week we attempted to make a change to our account and were told that they cannot make any changes to the account if we are using a PMB. Banking is the one thing we have not found a workaround for because we do not have a land based residential address. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
