That cable end is what is known as an "emergency temporary fix" it will work, not as long, not as well, not as trouble free as the ways that have been suggested most likely. Direct Current (DC) runs in a circle hince the wires create a circuit. The large black ground wire will have to be connected the the negative post of the house battery and it's other end to the frame for your alternator to charge the house battery. With the little wires black to the negative post of the house battery and red to the positive post of the house battery. Do not allow the wrench to touch between the to posts, attach the red one first, black one last and wear safety glasses while doing so. If you are unsure or have never done this before get a professional to do it. Don't take chances by using information off the internet as your only source when it comes to safety.
