........I'm not out on the trails yet, but i just realized the biggest threat for a solo RV'er.  Forest fires! Be safe out there everyone!

know your surroundings and current environmental happenings and biggest asset is you have wheels! being mobile is a great advantage.

^^^
Having your house on wheels and getting out of Dodge before everyone else decides to!

I'll visit the forests before the fires, hopefully... and when the smoke gets thick, I'll be elsewhere, probably sleeping in Walmart parking lots, looking for clean air.

Welcome to the forum. The worst months for wild fires in the far west are July and August, so I endeavor to travel to the forest and mountain areas in May and June (part-timer), and then late Sept and October. I also check the online sites regarding fire info every day in the summer. There are a bunch of links on this thread.

If it's fire season, don't go into any areas where there is only one way in and out.

Talk to the locals frequently, too. They'll know everything about where the fires are, because their lives and livelihoods, and the lives of their children, depend upon it. You can hardly go into a 7-11 or local coffee shop without bumping into people chatting about it from June through October around here.

yep, know your exit strategy, have a plan A and a plan B. get out soon don't wait. and most important of all don't be the one who starts the fire. highdesertranger
