I did not know where to go with this so if it's old news or in the wrong place feel free to move or delete it.

I'm disabled and I know of at least a few of you who are too. I wanted to share something that may be of use. A disabled person is eligible for a pass to all National Parks which gives you and your vehicle free admission, discounts etc. It gives you access to over 2,000 Federal recreation areas. There is a $10 processing fee for your LIFETIME card. For detailed info and how to apply go here.

http://store.usgs.gov/pass/access.html

In addition many states offer free admission and discounts. Some states are free, like here in New Jersey and I believe California was a 50% discount on state parks there. So check the info for your "Home" state of residence.

@ she Someone here better at computors may disagree with me but....type the link into the little bar thing that you type searches instead of using the link. Maybe that will work for you. If I'm wrong, someone let me know. (link came right up for me)
Dragonfly

THANK YOU JEEPER I WILL LOOK INTO THIS . ALSO BEING DISABLED THIS WILL HELP OUT SEEING ALL OF OUR BEAUTIFUL PARKS

It's always good to post information like this so that everyone is aware of it.

I've had this pass for a number of years and it's really a great deal. I think that it's completely free if you apply in person. One of the best benefits is half price camping at almost all national campgrounds which includes national parks ,national forests ,BLM campgrounds and Corp of Engineer campgrounds.

Check this site for state discounts - http://cubey.illiop.com/rv/disabled_discounts.shtml
I don't know if the information is accurate but it's a start.

Thank you so much for this info., I didn't even know they had a pass like this. This is why this site is so important for people. I wish I had known about this last year when I went cross country, it sure would have saved me alot of money. Again, thanx!

Hey guys,if you are disabled, take your "AWARD LETTER" or proof of income letter and you get the pass for free.I got mine at Yellowstone. It is good at N.P.S.,B.L.M.,N.F.S.,CORPS OF ENGINEERS,and NATURAL GRASSLANDS,and WILDERNESS AREAS.
Another great thing we found out at least for the Olympic National Park is that in the park (not including ocean beaches) there is no requirement for a state fishing license. Not sure which other National Parks this includes.

Pretty cool though that the pass gets you in the park free, then you can catch fish also for free

Thanks Jeeper! This is great info for my family. My brother is autistic and has the travel bug, so this would help a lot!

Hey, Mike

Why so long since a blog entry? Just want to catch up with your trave,s.

Bob

Hey Bob, Yeah, I have been a bad blogger lately, I need to get back too it regularly again. It is one of those things where if you put it off a little too long, it is easy to keep putting off... Kinda like my poor guitar. I will post an update blog by tomorrow and try to get back to a more regular thing.

Heidi and I have been working on a bunch of stuff and making plans, I definitely have no shortage of stuff to write about

Thanks for maintaining interest man, that means a lot to both Heidi and I
