Hellos...
Anyone using a standard PC as a mobile setup? I would like to fow a few reasons, but I really have no idea how much power it actually uses.
I would probably shrink my full ATX down to more HTPC or mini-ATX, with a 500w supply, keeping my current I7 ivy and 4 ssd's. I'd like to find a solution that allows for a 3d video card but defaults to onboard discreet when not needed.

Anyway, I'm not sure how to go about figuring out power usage for something with as many variables. Seems like it should be doable and not be all that much more power than a good laptop.

Thank you,
I was looking at 12v power supplies for my old desktop and at new laptops running Win7.
This little thing just entered the running..  :)

Key word being "little".  7x7x1-1/2.  I love this thing.  You will need an external DVD drive though.

I've got an Intel NUC, small computer that uses a laptop chipset. The wall wart puts out 12v at 3A, but the NUC is rated at 12-19v input so should work fine when I wire it to my DC electrical. Since I use Debian Linux, I did not mind that it did not come with windows when I won it.

Get a Kill-A-Watt, plug it in, use your computer as you normally do.  The Kill-A-Watt will tell you how much power you are using (probably need a few iterations to get a max, min, and average usage).

WOW!!!!  $ 1K?!?  I don't know what happened (scratching head).  You might want to call the number to see what is going on.  It maybe as simple as a glitch in the order page.
