Hello. I'm looking to buy a Nissan, Ram or Ford cargo vans. Would it be cheaper to buy the small ones and then go to a place that puts on a higher roof? Are those higher roofs safe to breathe around (fiberglass, I think). Please share recommendations of any places that do that type of work. T

hank you

If the fiberglass roof wasn’t safe there be a lot of dead nomads out there including me. Problem is it’s not cheap. And another problem is finding the right person to do the job. Bob has several videos about this including one about the guy who did his and had to have it totally redone. There is a recommended one I think it’s in California they say he’s expensive but always good. You could Google cheap RV living fiberglass tops or just Bob Wells fiberglass tops I think you might get to the right place. I guess the lesson I’ve learned from watching his videos if I was going to get somebody to install it I would want references before I plopped any money down. Good luck with it hope you get on the road and don’t have to sing “raindrops keep falling on my head”. God bless the nomads every one.

you can have a popup top put on it.  This youtube video from Element Van Life shows it being done on his new van by a company in California.

Nissan, Ram and Ford (and Mercedes) offer from-the-factory versions with high roofs. They're steel. And expensive.

I guess I erred in not stating that the link I posted was to Bob's video about his high top. Here it is again.
