Wow, just wow!

I've seen some beautiful lightning shots before but that takes the prize!

A fellow artist/photographer got some wonderful shots of lightning taken from Clearwater pier while the storms were out over the gulf.

I once took a photography class and asked the instructor how to do lighting photography. He answered with a straight face to just use Photoshop and add it. He said he could show me how to add it to any photo and no one could tell it wasn't real. I told him no thanks, I hated that idea and couldn't believe he had suggested it.

That photo may be real or it may be fake--the sad thing is there is no way to know and you'll always wonder about it. What should have been a masterpiece is just a question mark.

By the way, I don't use Photoshop, I just use a basic editor that's can't do things like this.

The photo was also featured on a broadcast national news channel.. not sure if I was watching NBC or ABS, but it was one of them. I feel fairly certain they had their techies check it out and/or looked for other witnesses to it.

Have you ever been watching the national news and they had an "expert" call in and at the end he says "BaBaBoooooo to Ya'll" I'm not very impressed with how they check their sources.

The photo is in my humble opinion real, and I say that because he is using very high end equipment including a tool I consider a CHEAT. It's the Lightning Trigger. Added to your DSLR it will fire off the shutter in just .3 milliseconds after detecting lightning day or night. There about a $149.00.

So all you have to do is setup and let the trigger do the work. Of course in this case mother nature provided elements, a rainbow and lightning at just the right time.
