texomahamarama.org is hosting a hamfest next weekend with a prize pool of 5 Daytona 2m/440 5W handi-talkies for those who pass their Technicians' license test, and right now there are only 4 talking about taking it, so odds of getting a kick start into the hobby are pretty good.  What a great outreach by the Texoma Hamarama Association!

Does anyone know if there are repeaters close to the RTR site so those of us with the lower-power handhelds (that maybe they just won!) can try to 'talk to the world'?

Any 'hams' thinking of going and being active at RTR 2017, or amateur radio activities contemplated?  One of the threads mentioned a group at Quartszite, anyone have any details?

Last question - any suggested frequencies for that area?

There's a ham radio gathering in Q, every year. I don't know the answersto your questions but if they gather therre, year after year, it must be ok.

I do know one avid ham radio buff that attends the RTR and the ham radio gathering every year. I don't believe he's on the forum. Are you Phil?

According to the directory at:

http://www.artscipub.com/repeaters/

There is one repeater in Quartzite itself:

145.310 -

One Repeater in Parker, AZ:  (35 Miles Away)

146.850 -

And a handful of repeaters in nearby Blythe, CA:  (22 Miles Away)

146.740 -
147.000 +
147.090 + (Riverside County RACES)
442.000 +

Cyndi, that makes for a very full RTR - so many things to do!

John, thanks so much for the repeater info (and link to look up more)!

You guys are GREAT!
