Already in Quartzsite

After 5 years of living in full-hookup RV parks, Bob's YouTube videos inspired me to buy a solar panel and hit the road for some National Forest and BLM adventures.

On September 15th, I left Coos Bay, OR and journeyed south. I stopped at a few great boondocking spots in California and Arizona, getting used to living completely off the grid.

It's been a great start to my new life and I'm already settled into La Posa North in Quartzsite. If you're in Quartzsite or Ehrenberg, I'd love to connect and get to know you.

I work remotely and full-time as a writer. I'm also an artist and I play the guitar and sing. I'm young for this lifestyle at 43, but I have an old soul and prefer to spend time with wise and grounded people.

Again, Quartzsite is beautiful, but I have gotten a bit tired of being alone here. Looking forward to connecting with you. Perhaps we could organize a pizza party of our own, while Bob is in Florida.

People use the WiFi at McDs and the laundromat/showers in Quartzite. In Ehrenberg WiFi is at the store/ laundromat/showers.  Most of the dwelling in E is on the south side of the highway, either down by the river or up on the Mesa. Google aerial maps are your friend.

I've got a pretty good sense of all the camping possibilities. campendium.com has been a great resource for me. It's just that I bought this pass and I'd like to get some use out of it. Sitting in some hot springs water sounds good to these aching muscles right about now.

I'm pretty disappointed with Quartzsite in general. My one neighbor flies a Confederate flag and the other tried to save my soul for Jesus yesterday. As a hippie-dippie type, it's not my scene at all.

I'll definitely say hello if I see your rig. I have an all-white 29-foot Class C Winebago Minnie Winnie. I'm in La Posa North until Friday and this weekend I'm going to head down to Holtville for a while. I'll probably check out Ehrenberg when I come back into town.

See now that's one of the reasons why a lot of us forgo the LTVA pass and head straight for the freebie stuff.

There are two sections to the LTVA at Holtville. The northern section is within walking/bicycling distance of the hot springs and it can get very crowded there. There is a very vibrant 'HOA' (I use the term loosely) that hosts a great Valentine's party and seems to have small groups for cocktail hours on a regular basis. Some of the winter residents there have been going to the LTVA for the past 15 years or more. A volunteer crew from there do the cleaning of the hot springs area.

The south LTVA campers are much more spread out, almost as good as the dispersed camping out behind the southern LTVA.

You get to the southern part by taking the paved road just before the hot springs and head south under the interstate. If you follow the pavement around the curve to the left you end up in the LTVA section. If you go straight down along the canal you end up on the freebie part at the second entrance to the left. The first one puts you on LTVA area.

Take your pick and if one area doesn't suite you, head to another one.

Oh and the way to have showers there is to take your own jugs, fill them with the hot water from the spring and head out on to the highway right of way. Since there's no dumping of gray water allowed around the LTVA areas, everyone goes out on to the highway right of way. 2 years ago there was a matted area (palm fronds) and a table there for you to put your shampoo on. Just be careful about what the truck drivers can see from the slow lane....rofl.

That is great news. I know folks my age are out there living this lifestyle, but I haven't met hardly any of them to this point. It's nice to know that this is about to change.

most everyone will be showing up in late Dec, on threw the spring. I know the Van build is going on right now. and there are craft stores in town, but it doesn't get hopping till Jan for the most part.... Bleyth has great fishing and there is a casino in Parker, it has a show / movies next to it... I hope that helps you find things to do till everyone shows up! enjoy the fact that you can drive around without a ton of RVs on the road...LOL

Don't flee so quickly MFrancisDwyer.  We just aren't all there yet.  From what I have seen so far, this is a very diverse group, and it seems that most are pretty helpful to one another regardless.

I'm over in Ehrenberg now. I'm down in the congregation at the end of the road. There's five or six rigs in the immediate vicinity, and there's no sign of other RVs beyond this point.

Feel free to stop on by and say hello if you're around. I have one portable solar panel on the ground next to my RV and my rig is all white with all the logos removed.

Don't worry, there will be many more with your train of thought coming. Many older, full-time RVers tend to be conservative, but as more show up there will be a great deal more variety.
