Hi everyone,
I'm 65 years old, and I'm tired of my life and want a little adventure. I'm living below the poverty level and while I have a decent cheap apartment and am not starving, I'm not actually "living."  I don't have a car, and walk or bus everywhere, which is getting harder every day here in FL, where summers can be brutal. I lost my house in the recession, and moved to another city, but I haven't been able to make any real friends here, due to no transportation to participate in things I want to.

I had to move 5 times in 5 years, have been here for 2 years, and am getting the itch to move again. I thought that if I am going to have to buy a car anyway, why not just buy a van and live in it? I started looking on YouTube, found these videos, and have been watching and listening carefully. I've now started taking notes, because I'm determined that by the time my next lease is up in 15 months, I'm going to be on the road.

It won't be easy. I have a lot of stuff to get rid of, and I have to work extra hard to save the money for the van, because my monthly income is only $675 in SS a month + $194 in food stamps. Still, I know I can do it if I plan it out well, and hope to learn a lot from you guys.

Welcome! that's a tall order, saving for a van on that little income, but yes, you can do it!

I do also work online right now, and if I want to, I can make more money, but not tons more. I also have a lot of things to sell that should actually get me into the van, and I can work for the rest of it. I was talking more about what I will have to live on once I start van dwelling.

$675 / month in a van is definitely doable, we have some on here that do it on $500 or even less

Welcome aboard Angelpie !

I know you can do this with your income abilities ,,,,I do.

Welcome. Once you actually dig in and start getting rid of stuff, you can kind of get in the groove making it easier. Toward the end, I didn't really care about anything other than the excess stuff just being gone. 15 months will go fast, wishing you much luck on saving money and starting to have the life you desire!
