Hello All:

I've been stalking this forum for awhile and thought it about time to register.

So I'm on the verge of retirement come October 1.  Long time coming!  I'm a retired naval reserve officer and soon-to-be retired federal immigration judge.  Way too much stress.

My plan is to buy an SUV and a small RV trailer and explore the nomad life.  This forum and the many u-tube gurus have been extremely helpful.  I'd even enjoy meeting some of you out on the road. My thing is long distance backpacking but since I'll be bringing along a 4-legged pal I'll be curtailing that activity in exchange for shorter hikes and more traveling.  Boondocking will be a prime interest.

Anyhoo, I'm in the midst of the research mode and getting psyched for a big change in my life. GC

Welcome.. I'm sure the RV life will be a hell of a lot more relaxing than your two prior occupations. Let us know how your progress goes.

There are some very experienced folks here that will help if asked.

Welcome to the CRVL Forums   :)

I belong to a Fraternal Lodge where our Chief Officer is a Magistrate Judge and he's thinking of doing the same.  He's now in his mid 70's.   Lots of stress on him too.   Thanks for our service.

I'd offer you to check out my two websites below.  The first is for converting a Van (or you could use a SUV) and a Cargo Trailer to travel in.   The Trailer is more of a service vehicle to the Tow vehicle, so when you want to arrive at a destination and tour you have the option of leaving the Trailer in camp and going out for a day or two in the Tow vehicle and sight seeing.   Then on returning to your Trailer you would have the amenities of a more complete RV.  It's just my own concept.

The second site is a portal of handy information I'm in the process of organizing into categories.   But it's like a Swiss Army Knife of handy information to use for planing an excursion or to refer to while on the road to find
assistance with your needs.

All the best !
