So I have an Aerostar cargo van. A down side of this over the passenger model is that the only opening windows are on the front doors. There is a window on the sliding door, but it doesn't open.

So I'm thinking about switching it with one from a passenger model. Around here we have a place called Pull-A-Part. They list sliding widows at $40 and, of course, you pull it yourself.

From the inside of my window (since there is no plastic around it) it seems pretty easy to pull and switch. Seems that basically one would remove about 10 nuts and take it off, switch 'em out, and put the nuts back on.

What I need to know: Is it really that simple? Do I need something to seal the new window in place? What am I missing?

THANKS!

i am not familiar with that model but i would bet it does not bolt in. it is either glue or held in with a continuous rudder seal. go to your pick a part and take one apart see if you can handle it (practice on theirs). highdesertranger

It is definitely bolted. It's cargo model so there is nothing covering the bolts. I can see all of them. Good tip about taking off the donor first, though.

pulled the window today. $26 and easy as hell. gonna mount it thursday when I have the day off work.

good to hear glad it worked out. go easy when tightening the bolts don't over torque. highdesertranger

the window is on and I think I got it to stop leaking!
