Hi I added a large aluminum box on a swing out hitch to the back of my GMC Yukon that I will be living in, and because of the height it covers the brake lights not so much the signals. Where do I find and how to hook up external brake light and signals and license plate bracket with license light to attach to toolbox so I do not get ticketed. Thanks!!!

if it's wired for a trailer the easiest way by far is to add new lights and run them off the trailer plug. the 4 way trailer plug gives you tail lights brake lights, turn signals and a ground. the seven way gives you all of those plus trailer brakes, a charge wire, and an auxiliary that you can use for backup lights.

if your box is that big it wouldn't be a bad idea to include side markers.

If it isn't wired for a trailer you could come up with a way to hook up additional lights.  The easy way would be to get a trailer wiring kit and make it wired for a trailer.  That will be cheap and avoid issues with parallel lamps overloading the computer outputs that turn on and off the lights.

Trebor brought up a good point. if it's not wired for a trailer they make a simple plug and play adapter for the wiring. highdesertranger

Or... this is what I have done recently, just pull out your existing light and splice into the wiring, keeping left/right separated of course. Then attach your new brake/stop/turn "LED" light groups to your box and route/connect the jumper wires you spliced in. Buy the low watt LEDs. They pull very little and should not mess with the vehicle puter at all.

For the license plate, auto zone sells a plate mount with led light installed.
(they carry the Stop/Turn/Tail light combo too). Again just splice into the existing license light and mount it where ever the license will be visible to satisfy law enforcement.

Do leave your existing lights operational incase you decide to take the box off one day.
