'96 Ford Bus stalling when put into reverse

Hey so I just bought a 1996 Ford mini bus V8 5.4 liter with 213,000 miles and it's running great and it's in good condition the only problem it has is that when it gets put in reverse it dies. Sometimes when it's sitting in park it sounds like it's about to die cuz it's idling too low. And it usually takes a couple of pumps of the gas to start it up. Anyone know what the issue may be? Anything helps thanks

take it in for a scan and see what it says

I am not saying for sure this is it but Fords have a problem with the idle air control valve. take it off clean the inside passages with carb cleaner and see what happens. I usually don't recommend this shotgun approach but it will only cost you some time a little carb cleaner. it's a very common problem. highdesertranger
