67 days till retirement. Not that I'm counting. Been reading the blog and website for about 2 yrs and have learned so much. Have a cargo trailer 6x12 to convert like Bob's. Wouldn't know where to start without his website, so much useful info.

Congratulations on your retirement and welcome to the CRVL forums! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started. We look forward to hearing more from you.

Will be based out of La. Have to establish home base(build my nest) then do a custom job on the trailer including solar. Hopefully be ready to roll by next summer.

OldMan, what a wonderful time this is for you!! Your retiring and recreating your life into exactly what you want it to be. All those years of hard work are going to finally pay off!!!! I really envy you the excitement and anticipation your going through! Savor every moment of it!

Be aware that for some people it's a troubling time also. They feel lost without a job or a purpose. That's why having something new and wonderful you are moving TOWARD is so important.

Think way outside the box! Your new life is a blank slate that you can paint to be any thing you want, the sky is the limit!

We're here for you if there is anything we can do to help! If possible, I'd suggest you make it out to the RTR and you will get a lot of new ideas and make many new friends!

Bob

Welcome

While there is certainly a lot of good info here, we are not the only source. For cargo trailer conversions, try the Teardrops and Tiny Travel Trailers forum. They have an extremely active sub-forum devoted to cargo trailer conversions. Lots and lots of great ideas and expert answers.

However, most of the people there are recreational campers. For info on living this lifestyle full time, this is the place!

Regards
John

Cyndi, sorry, Louisiana. Born and raised there - going back to the swamps. And Bob, been hounding your site for several years and just now registering. Bought your book and couldn't find it about 6 months later so bought another one. Just reread it again and all fired up, plan on the RTR by 2016 as I'll have my hands full next year, but you never know.

Hi Oldman,
Congrats on makin it :)
Good luck buddy. See ya soon I hope.

Thanx, almost there. Gathering stuff for the conversion of my cargo tailer, portable toilet, fantastic fan, vent covers, etc. but can't start till next spring. Gotta get my nest (barn) built and use it moving, then get the fun of totally building it - from insulating to wiring, solar, windows, etc. More excited about it than the barn, can't wait to finish and hit the road.

See Ya at RtR ? Ill play ya a song you will like I promise?
i got a tent for a 100 dollars today. I can run a stove pipe through the roof . It Is 10x10 and weighs a hundred pounds. It is a tent for a military crew .It will do for me.We will not be cold :)
