I subscribe to the email from Northern Arizona Wind and Sun In Flagstaff, AZ and I just got their annual notice of a 5% off sale on everything for the 4th of July. They are a company I think very highly of and done a lot of business with.

I know some of you are going to be going there soon, maybe you can pay for it now and pick it up later. Shipping on the big panels is very high so probably not worth it, but the smaller panels are fairly cheap by UPS.

Here's their address:

Here is the email they sent me:

In honor of Independence Day, we're offering a 5% discount off your total order. No minimum purchase is necessary and there's no limit on your order amount. Enter the coupon code "july4sale" (without quotation marks and no spaces) at checkout and the discount will be automatically applied. If you prefer to place your order over the phone, you can call our office and we will apply the discount to your order. The sale will take place from Friday, July 4th and extend through Tuesday, July 8th.

If you need help designing a system, please contact us as soon as possible. This will give us time to customize a parts list to meet your specifications. Payment must be received no later than July 8th in order to be eligible for the discount. Clearance section items are not included in the sale.

Please note that we will not be in the office on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. If you need to speak to our sales staff, we will be available on Thursday of this week or Monday and Tuesday of next week.

Bob, I have read several times that you have dealt with them, They have an installer they recommend. Would you trust them to help set up a small, middle of the road type system. 140 -200 watts. I will be passing thru there in a month or so.. Any input is appreciated.

As you said, they don't do installs, just sales. The local shop they use is Buddys and I've know a couple guys who got work done there and it went well. It was a large complex job that turned out great. They are also a fabricator so he had them put on a large rack over his Roadtrek so the panels were above the roof. That was expensive!!

Their prices are good but if you notice it's all good quality stuff. The controllers are all name brand American made. In 5 years you can call the company who made the controller and an American will answer the phone and you will get helped. They sell Kycoera panels in most of their kits which are slightly more but they are the actually better panels. You can compare them and see the frames are stronger and better. I believe they are assembled in San Diego, that alone is worth a little more money.

I had a friend who bought a Blue Sky controller and it failed. He called Blue Sky and he talked to an enginer who diagnosed the problem. They sent him out a new the next day although they could have weasled out of it. He went over a high mountian pass and over volted the controller. He could have said it was his fault for putting to much voltage through the controller. Instead they sent him a controller that could handle any voltage.

You're buying quality stuff at about the lowest prices you can. Yes, you can buy cheap Chinese stuff and it will probably work well for awhile. But some day you will have a problem and then you will have to throw it away.

I know next to nothing about the workings of solar and MPPT's and such. Trying to upgrade the battery(s) in my Van and add solar and an inverter. Thanks for the 'heads up' I will talk to one of their techs next week and get an idea of what can be done.. Travel Safe. Bob J.
