so this thread is for entertainment purposes only.  having seen all the recent discussions on 4wd,  awd, fwd and this versus that.  take some time and check these guys out,  they are a kick.  here is a short description of their vehicle.  http://www.westernghosttowns.com/cheapjeep.htm .  here's a 4 minute video of their vehicle and some other stuff,   .  here's another video that explains their vehicle,  it's the first 5 minutes,  just a warning the whole video is almost a hour long.   .  I posted these to show that not everyone needs a $60,000 truck to go off road and you don't need 4wd, awd, either.  you must have a sense of adventure and be willing to get dirty.  vehicles like this used to be a lot more common.  enjoy.  highdesertranger

Man, can I go play with those guys...can I, can I please!!!  :D

I learned to drive chasing off road race cars in a 2 wheel drive Ford Courier. Then I got my own rally car - a '72 Ford Pinto! While I've owned many 4x4s over the years, and there are places that extra traction and clearance are needed, you can certainly have just as much fun exploring in any old sedan. As Edward Abby once said, every rental car is a 4 wheeler! Or something to that effect.

what's the difference between a rental car and a 4x4?................................. a rental car will go anywhere. highdesertranger
