12 volt pump for my sink

i have made a sink out of a stainless steel bowl and i need a 12volt pump so i can pump the water to the sink. the water will be for washing/cleaning and also drinking. I'm looking for some recommendations I'm not sure if it makes a difference on the pump if I'm using it for drinking water or not. i had a windshield washer pump laying around so i hooked it up just to test it out and that pump puts out to much pressure.i will be using one of the blue water jugs that walmart sells and was planning to mount the pump beside it but if there is a better solution I'm all ears. any thoughts or recommendations are appreciated.

I'm sure there are cheaper ways to go, but I went with a full RV setup. It was not hard to install and I love the fact that I don't have to mess with a bunch of smaller bottles. I just keep a 7 gallon jug tucked away in the back.

It also runs to sink sprayers at the back and side doors for cleaning things or filling larger containers.

Check different places for prices - sometimes Amazon is cheaper, sometimes the RV supply place is cheaper.

The pump and accumulator connect together directly - everything else connects together with pre-made hoses with 1/2" fittings on the end which you can get at any hardware store in a variety of lengths. Previously I tried using bulk hose with hose clamps and such but it really didn't save me any money and led to leaks.

To get water from the big jug I took a piece of 1/2" pvc pipe with a 90 degree angle on the end and a fitting for the 1/2" hose. This goes through the hole where the spigot would normally screw in.

It took a while to get all the fittings and hoses worked out, but now it's all fully automatic.

One of these days I'll take pictures and do a writeup. It seems like most vandwellers aren't installing pumps like this.

I popped into a prospectors store and found they had all kinds of 12V goodies, like some small low amp water pumps that worked right off a solar panel. Sure better than the stuff we used to find for field use.

it drops right into a water jug, I switched mine, eliminated the sink, so just use it for transfer or showers now.

I went digging in my cabinets, and found a 11 inch stainless bowl that will work perfectly. This will save me a lot of hunting. Faucets are easy to come by, but they want a bundle for sinks. Now all I have to do is get that base and drill the hole.

I can build the cabinet if I do not find one soon at a yard sale.

If you make a simple base out of coroplast, you could have a portable sink, which could also be stowed away if you needed the countertop for other things...

here is a couple of pics of my sink and counter not installed yet but i will get more pics of mocked up in the van tomorrow. i used a bar sink drain from lows it was about 8.00 i drilled a 1 1/2" hole in my stainless steel bowl i picked it up from walmart i believe its an 8 quart about 8.00. i put plumbers putty around the drain on the top side and used the rubber gasket the drain came with on the bottom i then added a 12" piece of pvc sink drain tube with gasket which was about 3.00. and then i drilled a hole into the top of my 5 gallon bucket which will hold the grey water. my house battery ,water pump fresh water tank and later a small propane tank will all be under the counter you see in the pic. well that is if i measured right haha!!!!

I used to use the Expensive hand pumps but wore them out.

When the last one wore out all too prematurely, I went electric, but no acumulator.

Here is a simple push button on push button OFF pump with a small faucet. No pressure/ flow control.

The pump itself makes a buzzing sound when on and draws about 1.6 amps. It cannot prime itself how I have mine mounted, which is on the floor next to the tank. I use my air compressor to pressurize my 7 gallon reliance tank so that water can flow through the check valve I installed on the bottom of the stem, up the stem and down to the pump.

The directions will say to mount it to the bottom of the tank itself.

This pump will not be damaged by running dry as will most other pumps.

I paid about 20$ under the E bay price several years ago., and if/when this pump fails, I will get another.

Once primed it will work fine and run dry the tank to 1.5 to 0.5 quarts left in the tank.

well got some pipes and pieces to make my faucet and got my grey water and fresh water tanks installed my water pump and bottle opener showed up late today but i got them installed but didnt get a pic of the water pump install but its pretty straight forward. here is some new pics of the van

That is a pretty neat kitchen set up. What material is that countertop?

it is just a piece of birch plywood they sell at home depot in a 2'x4' pre cut piece. i had it cut down to a 40" length then i threw on a couple of coats of paint not real fancy but it is cheap and it works. i had other ideas at first but as i was going to put it together i changed plans plus if i need to remove it i only need to take out 2 screws.

well once i cut the pipe that comes off my sink i will just lift the sink an inch or two and take the bucket out and dump it properly. when I'm camping and riding my mountain bike if there is a lot of dust dirt and mud i will use the grey water to rinse my bike off after a dirty ride. some told me just to let it drain from under the van but i just didn't want to do it that way because i figured i could reuse some of the water for cleaning and other uses if need be.
of course that might change as time and experience come along but we will see.

well i was stumbling around amazon looking for a battery charger and some good jumper cables and while i was looking i searched faucets because even though mine works it does put out a little more flow since it does not have the defuser or what ever they call it in the end so i found this faucet which I'm thinking should work great.
i ordered it online and its supposed to be here sunday so i will install it and give some feed back once I'm done.
