Reminder of the dangers of extended vans

Many churches that used these vans switched to small school buses. My denomination that is self insured will no longer insure. I believe that the van it's self when used properly and maintained is safe. What I have observed is many times inexperienced drivers and a group of unstable cargo,people...

    Free lunch at Sam’s Club

Great . When I was in college we would keep an eye out for weddings and crash the reception. We learned to take a card. No money just a dollar store card

Compression check or oil chemistry check?

Apologize in advance. I have to think that what you would do is the same with or without the test. The general public might respond differently if given the test results by a mechanic that stands to sell a fix mechanically. You if not having a problem no performance issues no missing or mixed...

What are your Bucket List destinations?

Any Railfans I would like to see some of the big rail yards and camp near a busy railway in the desert. Not sure that exist.

Van choice-Well maintained, $900 minivan or ???? ~$2000ish van from Craigslist

Minivan, little if any modification until you figure out if it will work. You should be able to sell it easy if you want something else

I have looked at different types of RV. The BT Cruiser is interesting. I like having the extra space but not more than 24 feet I see that type vehicle within my budget some for 5000 or so. I am not good mechanically. Looking into solar power as well.

    Choosing the ideal Sleeping Bag?

REI has a yard sale periodically. I went to the store tried different bags. Then at the yard sale went through and purchased one from my list about half price. Not sure if you are near a store. I actually tried a number of bags out in the store with mats.

    Tool Storage

Hitch hauler sounds doable. I would go all out on a good secure box and receiver lock. I have seen light weight floor Jacks not sure if they are worth the investment. A few jobs on the road will pay for itself

Traveling alone, ever worry about getting sick?

Never hurts to do a self health assessment. Better if you have a good physical exam to have help. Next I would look at my family history health wise. Basically heart disease, diabetic, cancer. Then make lifestyle choices if you like to decrease risk. A doctor I worked with that ran ever day...

What about a small trailer. A floor jack , two set of jack stands and tools to be a mechanic will be tough in a van

    Van Security?

Offer a hand to folks that are repairing things is a good way to learn about how systems on RV work.

interested in minimalism and living in class b motorhome. I would like to travel to Alaska and see the western states. I am hoping to travel some in the next year. Saw the documentary and started looking into possibilities.  More aware that there are people living in vehicles all over town.
