Rain-X Anti Fog Anyone have any experience with this stuff? Does it work worth a damn? Windows were super foggy this morning.

Ok now under 50 degrees (f). Starting to feel it! (vents, thermal underwear)

Last night it got down to 50 degrees and I'm not gonna lie.. I was cold as hell. Not QUITE ready to get a little buddy heater but have a few questions. First, I'm concerned about staying stealthy.. but also staying warm. I've continued to leave the front 2 windows cracked about an inch for...

    Swamp ass

Man it's been hot here. 1 day of skipping a shower in this heat and swamp ass is gonna happen. Looking forward to a nice long shower at the good gym tomorrow (we won't talk about the showers at the BAD gym, which is much closer to where I park overnight). Avoid swamp ass. That is all.

    could have been worse.

This morning my planner was chock full of things I needed to do today. Gym, Storage, post office, Starbucks, Costco, library. Etc. Nothing out of the ordinary but was maybe the first time I planned it out the night before. I get to the gym and decide to skip the workout and just get a shower...

a couple new seasonal items at costco

First was this super soft blanket for $18. Had it in my arms til the checkout then chickened out. Money is tight but I could probably use it: Next was this thing that blasted heat at me in the face from 6 feet away... dunno what kind of a load it would take (guessing a ton) ($60). Never in...

below 60 degrees. wasn't too bad

Got my first taste of below 60 degrees last night and slept really well with just one blanket. I didn't have my roof vent open (or even the widndows cracked like I have been doing to avoid moisture building up on the Windows) so this may not have been a fair test. Wondering if I'm going to...

First rain here since in the van.

It had to happen sooner or later. Rain came down this.morning, starting around 4:30am. When it first started it woke me up and was a lot more of a noise issue than I thought. Mostly because it was sparatic... made it very difficult to get back to sleep. Took me an hour to get back to sleep...

How do I know how full my batteries are?

My setup has 2x 125ah deep cycle batteries powered by 200w of panels and the alternator. I have heard the letting them drop below 50% is bad (reduces the total amount of times they can be recharged). Seems like they never go above 13.9v on the control's display and I've had them down to about...

Parking in the direct sun or find some shade?

Summer still has some bite left. I'm wondering is it better to park in the shade during a hot day and run the fan or sacrifice the extra solar power and keep cool by just landing in some shade. Maybe it depends on the amount of solar power that's installed? Interested in your opinion.

    the ice cooler challenge?

Nobody's getting a bucket of water dumped on them here. Instead my quest involves having a cool drink from time to time. Stopped by Wally World and picked up this guy for $35: It's a 52 quart (with wheels which are probably not that useful to me). I filled it with 2 bags of ice (20 pounds...

using a UPS with an inverter

I normally use a UPS (uninterruptable power supply) for my computer, monitor etc. Does anyone have an experience using this with an inverter? Is there any point besides the 10 min of extra power when the main power is shut off (dual battery runs low). Is the power surge protection of any use...

    riffraff's quick & dirty conversion

I've posted in different threads regarding different aspects of my van conversion and thought it would be better to start a new thread focusing on my project in more detail including my experiences so far and questions that come up along the way. What led me here? I did not buy my van with the...

First try at solar.. which panels?

So far I've got: Battery: SLR125 VMAX Sealed Solar AGM Battery 12V Deep Cycle for PV Solar Panels 125AH Controller: Blue Sky SB2000E 12V / 25 amp MPPT charge controller A little unsure on which panels to get. I plan to mount them to a roof rack, haven't got one of those yet either. Dodge...
