I've wanted to be a workamper for KOA. I've had many oppurtunities to take the job from virtually every state in the union. The only reason why I haven't jumped on the oppurtunity is the fact that I don't have a camper I can pull behind my Honda Civic and KOA will not allow you to sleep out...

    Overninght in Gulf Shores, AL

I've been working for about a month now at my former job at Krispy Kreme and I decided several months prior that I would take a "vacation" down to Gulf Shores, AL. Starting out in my car

I've been living in a house now for a year and it's had it's ups and downs. My 21 year old heart yearns to be free an experience life instead of living in this monotonous (and sometimes exciting) house. I feel all I ever do is work and pay bills and that's it. Jake

What Security Measures Do You Take?

I would recommend Mace my friends and I did a little Cop Academy "Training" and with "supervision" we shot each other with mace to know how it feels. Pepper Spray, aka Mace WILL incapacitate anyone who hasn't experienced it. The pain lingers on for hours and it's cheaper than buying a...

    Underway

I was in a used Honda Civic. It had some body damage, both caused by my error and one that came with the vehicle. I parked near a old, beater MG in Alabama. It dropped to 7 degrees that. I had a heater, but slept in a Artic rated sleeping blanket and two layers of clothing. Cops couldn't...

Stealth parking is one of the things I am looking forward to when I begin my week long trial run living out of my car. Where I live in Alabama there is many a area to boondock. Were/are you scared to start?

I received a lot of BS from my family members, only a very few said encouraging things about my decision to try living out of my car. Some of it was very hurtful and outright selfish. People (Our society, especially!) Expects you to; Go to college, get a house, work all your life, retire, die...

    car camping - long term

This is extremely informative. I will be using what you said in this thread to take a week out and live in my car. This is kind of the idea I had in mind. Buy a sleeping bag and tent, some camping supplies and make it happen.

    Making Coffee

I have a french press and I've used it regularly. Never tried it cold pressed. I use more than anything a Melita 'Pour-over' coffee brewer which uses cone filters that use 1-3 Tbsp of coffee. Bring it up under a boil, or whatever you prefer then pour and serve. It's great for one person to...
