Rare High Top Conversion Van $4900 (Baltimore, MD)

Passing this along for anyone looking. I would've snatched this up.  Only bad thing is the handicap ramp. Or a good thing if you can sell it. And no, I can't go look at it for you. :) https://baltimore.craigslist.org/cto/d/baltimore-1998-ford-e250-hightop/7238738712.html

    Cubic mini wood stove

So do this is a good idea to store these small propane tanks in a plastic tote, right? Should it leak, it will be contained enough to not cause a fire or explosion should a spark should happen nearby?

Cost to install new a/c on Dodge Caravan

Sometimes, a $30 AC leak seal can will work. The heavy duty, leak seal only can (and not the combo can). Then add 1-2 cans of refrigerant ($16). Held the refrigerant for 2 years in my old car. 3rd/this year, had to add in an $8 can. Not sure how many of these gluey, $30 leak seal cans I can...

Solar generator and small portable AC unit

How about a couple of big, 12v fans? Or place an ad in Craigslist to rent someone's driveway including running a big cord to their outside electric outlet + buy a portable A/C unit. Saw one at Costco for $350 on sale.

    Cooper's Lake Campground

Anyone been to Cooper's Lake Campground in Slippery Rock, PA? Think I can boondock in the parking lot during a 1200 people event? Are the roads leading there hilly and windy?

Airbags or Springs. The van has got to stop twerking!

They're XL, does that mean they're better than E ? My van is loaded with stuff and lots of water. I'm thinking of these (on-off road) HANKOOK DYNAPRO AT-M  ...

Airbags or Springs. The van has got to stop twerking!

How much more stable would going from stock 15" rims/tires to 16" rims/tires be? It will cost about $400 extra when I do my next tire change.

    Hiding Places for Valuables?

Do you cops asks about large sums of money onboard? Someone said that in some States they do. I can understand that they'd ask if you had weapons, for their safety.

    Hiding Places for Valuables?

I was watching a YT video on a female vandweller who said "yes" to a search and she said that they ransacked the hell out of her minivan right there on the side of the road. I bet they pulled out all of her interior moldings too and doubt if they put it back the way it was before the search...

    Hiding Places for Valuables?

Good, informative post. Too bad there's a ton of junk from financial advisers practicing w/o a license to wade through. I mean c'mon, we get it...you're the wizard of wallstreet and shit. But some of us like to keep like $1,000 or so in cash somewhere and it would suck to have it stolen. Not...

Carry a gun? Extra cash? Where?

I wonder if the Cops can claim that you used it as a hidden compartment. I know, far fetched....but damn, just saw post #53 about Cops draining debit cards, etc.  Wonder how the Cops would ask about you carrying cash?  Would they ask if you were carrying "lots of cash" or do they have a set...

Carry a gun? Extra cash? Where?

That doesn't sound very smart. Big difference between speeding a little and possibly getting a ticket vs. getting caught with a hidden compartment and possibly getting your home confiscated.

    rest areas

Signs posted to allow enforcement should it becomes necessary, makes sense. Vagrants would take advantage and start pitching tents, etc. Stealth is the key + it's good etiquette.

    Electric heater on shore power

Bad teacher then because you're leaving out the efficiency factor. Hot plate works the best for me based on trying out like 8 different electric heaters of equal or 300-500 more watts. It's strange but hot plates just works really well and you can cook & boil at the same time with it. Plus...

    Electric heater on shore power

Yeah, that's also called making an argument. This hot plate at 828w just works better than the other space heaters I have at 1311w and 1175w. You wouldn't know b/c you've never tried the electric hotplate, but just want to argue about the constant of wattage while claiming that you're not...

    Electric heater on shore power

I'm arguing efficiency. Not that 1 watt from heater A is hotter than 1 watt from heater B.

    Electric heater on shore power

That's nice, but it's not true when I've already proven to myself that certain heaters do work better at a lower wattage. And I didn't just buy all of these different space heaters for fun....nor decided that it was also fun to stay colder with a certain heater just because it used more juice.

    Electric heater on shore power

I don't think this is true. There are efficiencies involved. Here are space heaters with measured wattage: (h,m,l=hi,med, low   os=oscillating   f=fan   i=idle) Lasko Ceramic (upright): (hi/os)1311/1312,  (lo/os)930/934, (i)1.2w Pelonis (walmart $10): (h)1175  (m)772  (l)528  (f)14 Presto Heat...
