Best way to insulate enclosed utility bed?

I have thought of this, that 4.11 would be better, but this is a "we shall see" thing for now... I may also change to 4.11 just to "see" if there is a difference, but for now, it has 3.75 I may or may not enclose the solar panels, but I doubt it, but that is true and a concern.

Best way to insulate enclosed utility bed?

So, the chassis is an 05 Express 3500. The engine is I believe off of an 01 Silverado 2500, an LQ4 (I think) 6.0 LS. The transmission is from an 04 Express 3500, and is rebuilt. The transfer case is an NP214(?) I got from a 98 Suburban 3500. The rear axle is from an 04 3500, is full...

Best way to insulate enclosed utility bed?

Hi, I am building an elongated 4x4 van, that will be half van, half utility bed. I have not fitted the utility bed to it yet, but soon. My concern is that, the metal box will act as a sort of reverse heat sink, with the cooling "fins" being the internal shelving. I saw a product once, to...

Living on the road, managing a business, with minimum investment

Alright so I will outline where I am at in life presently, and how to survive. My only other recourse is to go on SSI, which to me feels like a dead-end in life, as they will not "allow" me to make any money. To be fair, a little warning and background, my childhood was something I was lucky...

    Kind of stagnant...

A little background, I feel is necessary. Warning, I talk about spiritual things. I had a traumatic childhood I was lucky to survive. It has, put me into a permanent from of Crisis, that only recently (The last 3 years...) have I begun to battle/accept/forgive/let go of. Recently, I...

    Hi there

Nevermind, it's across all forums (again). The good news, though, is that I am allowed to post TWO OR MORE threads in the newcomers corner!

    Hi there

After posting in several other threads, I am still getting the, "Insufficient privileges to post here." It does seem like an actual server issues, rather than a control freak issue. https://vanlivingforum.com/threads/ive-discovered-a-unique-way-to-keep-my-van-considerably-cooler.46259/page-2

Prius AC in a Van, and other ideas

I delved into this a few months ago, as the Prius system is ingenious, and very efficient. However, the main reason it will not adapt to vanlife (Unless you have a 400V battery stowed somewhere) is that depending on year, it ran on anything from 377 to upwards of 400 volts. The motor is a three...

    Hi there

Thank you so much! I tried posting in one of the main forums, but due to my circumstances being multifaceted and somewhat complicated, I got the error message, "Enter a reply less than 10,000 characters". I appreciate what Bob has done, and he is one of the reasons I am embarking on #vanlife...

    Hi there

You are lucky to have a 4x4 ambulance... i saw a 30 year old one sell for 12k a few months ago... It was my goal but they are too expensive. I am looking at a 200's Chevy Savannah van, 1 ton, and putting a live axle under it. I am a college educated welder and metal fabricator. I'm also a...

    Hi there

I am not new to vanlife, but I do need help. I built a live in camper van a few years ago, and found happiness in a small space. I had a home, just preferred living in the van. Today, I have a huge van project, a 4x4 conversion, and a covered utility bed that will be my new home.
