    Buying a 2018 Promaster 1500 - NOT high top tomorrow …

Which translates to; go food shopping, do your laundry, see a movie, visit museums, have lunch with a friend, make it a travel day, do errands, etc. Save anything that keeps you out of the van for rainy day when possible. Nothing worse than spending multiple days stuck in a van regardless of...

Bare Minimum Level of Work Needed to Make a Van Liveable

A person puts out about 300+ BTUs of heat. Any cooking adds heat as well. Why loose that heat. Insulation helps defray the effects of the hot sun beating on the outside of the van during hot sunny days. Even without actively heating or cooling the space insulation really helps. Insulation and...

    Thinking of taking out

The pro, more space. The con, you can't take anyone with you. But that may also be a pro! :) I wouldn't want to remove it only because I like turning the passenger seat around and using it for additional seating. They are usually comfortable, and great for seating at a table and working on the...

    24/7 Security Camera Recording

You forgot the smiley face  :D Windows would cost more, need to be installed, eliminate cabinet/wall space that could be used for storage, reduce privacy, reduce insulation, etc. Way harder, more complicated, and more costly in the end. Although, I prefer windows too. But I also want a...

What's the coldest you have experienced living in van without insulation or heater?

The lowest for me was -11ºF in a Class A RV. We didn't use any heat during the night. I slept with long johns, sweatshirt, warm socks in a 30ºF sleeping bag with another sleeping bag over it. Slept great for the weekend while there. Turned on the propane in the morning, jumped back in the...

What is outside your door?? *pictures*

I'm currently at home, and this is the view from the front door. Although the van is parked just to the left on the other side of the pond and would yield a similar view, so does that count? :)

Denver new laws against over-nighting stealth

How does this apply to those that full time in their RV, but still own a regular home. I'd never give up my home even when full time traveling, be it 6 months, 5 years, or more. Downsize yes, eliminate no. I'm not sure a court could get away with charging me as homeless if I still own a home...

    Charge your Battery by EXERCISING!

Darn, didn't think of that. In that case, I'll just have to press the generator start button ;)

Calculate ah's from wh's? Amp hours watt hours.

Discussing physics and thermal dynamics of course, a subject more familiar than electronics!

    Van height

Do you remember what it was in reference to? (i.e. underpasses, registration type, parking, etc)

Charging a dead 12v vehicle battery with two 6v house batteries

Solar could be very slow if you go to start your car at 9pm and it's dead :) When using 2 6v batteriss to jump start, make sure you use the posts for Pos and Neg setup in series, and not the Pos and Neg on just one of the 6v batteries.

    Charge your Battery by EXERCISING!

About 12 hours to charge my battery bank with this bicycle. I think I'll stick with solar for the battery charging, and use my regular bicycle for exercise and exploring. You can't bicycle very far if you have a charge cable attached to your Battery bank and bike! [emoji57]

How important will it be to me to stand up?

It's not a 'one size fits all' question. Some don't need to stand, others do. I could get away with not standing, I just don't want to. It's nice to stand up and stretch when I feel like, as well as not having to sit when doing all tasks in the van. Living in a small space, its important to...

    Cargo Van vs. Passenger Van

I ended up in a class B, but at one point was designing a cargo van conversion. For the security door/cage behind the front seats, my plan was to leave it in place. But I was going to make the passenger side slide over behind the drivers seat to open up the interior along with a swivel for the...

    Your Opinion on Roadtreks?

Shopping out of state is pretty much the only way to find a good deal unless you are really lucky. And one needs to jump on it fast when they find one. I had two really good deals sold out from under me before I could finalize the arrangement. I finally bought mine in TN, and had to fly in to...

How stealthy can a Class B be?

It's more important to 'blend in', then be stealthy. Exactly the same, but completely different ;) A 36' RV is very stealthy if parked in a RV dealership lot, where as a white van would be out of place. The same RV parked at a construction site would stick out like a sore thumb, where the...
