    Time Flies When Van Dwelling

I learned so many good ideas from this forum that van dwelling's been such a breeze I can't believe how long it's been since I last checked in here! Today a guy in Key West stopped by and said he's been reading and posting here and I couldn't even remember my user name! After a longboard skate...

    Night Cooling Below Ambiant Temperature

BTW, I did notice that it was always with a rapidly cooling air mass due to a clear sky.

    Night Cooling Below Ambiant Temperature

Forget thermometer accuracy. When I get in the van from outside it is noticeably cooler than outside. And in all other conditions the readings are as expected/predicted. I knew there was definitely some radiation cooling thing going on but wasn't sure how it worked. Now I do. Thanks guys!

    Night Cooling Below Ambiant Temperature

It's got something to do with heat loss from the steel van to the atmosphere but I would assume after a daytime temp warmer inside than out it would reach a steady state when it is even with the outside. But for some reason it's consistantly five degrees cooler. Wish I knew how to REVERSE the...

    Night Cooling Below Ambiant Temperature

I've been full time in my Transit for over six weeks now but still stuck in MI tieing up loose ends. Now that it's been cooling down at night I'm still trying to figure out why my un insulated van is always 5 degrees cooler than the outside temp from sunset to sunrise. It's 47 degrees inside...

Something to be aware of while overnighting at Walmart

I read it and believe that those type of crooks and bad guys & gals are not necessarily the type to break into an RV. But I also have been made aware of certain Walmarts, i.e. the one in Florida City FL where pro vehicle content thieves do target vacationer's stuff. So yes, Walmart is not as...

    TruckFridge group buys

I just called. No go. I'll wait, no hurry. Not going to pay $150 more including shipping at this point. Maybe one day, but at this juncture .....not gonna do it.

37 Hours to be Out of the House and Onward to Full Time Van Dwelldom

Thanks! She's actually in Emeryville and I'm hoping i fit into the guest parking spot at her condo. But I'd sure be interested in anyway to stealth camp closer to the city for a few nights.

37 Hours to be Out of the House and Onward to Full Time Van Dwelldom

I just finished a three week trip this past Monday. I'm still working through the end of the month. The plan is for a one to two week trip next month, return to finish off loose ends with business, and then hit the road for 6-8 months, returning to Detroit in the summer. I'll return to the...

........Well? Any luck? I'm interested in one if the deal is still on! BTW, can you put ice in them and use as an ice chest when desired or will the ice melt ruin the system?

    Mr. Buddy portable heater

I have one but always was advised to allow for replacement air via an open window and to have a real CO detector with an alarm. Any truth to that or are these things really safe enough to use as is?

    Storage for medication

3 qt. came yesterday. There is ALMOST enough height for the 10 oz. in it vertical, but it's shy by about a quarter inch. Fits on it's side with ease though. No problem since it seals tight. The 3 qt. fits standing or lying on it's side in the Yetti Roadie 20. I'm set!

    Storage for medication

Thanks Hank. I picked up the 10 oz Stanley at Walmart, but the 3 qt. is online only. Should arrive by 29th. I'm leaving for a ten day trip the 28th, so just might get it in time for a trial run. First week of August I'll finish moving all of my stuff out of the house except for a handful of...

Midnight August 14 I'm Officially Full Time!

I'll keep it as a base. Lots of stuff in there! One of my sons is an airline pilot, I can fly standby practically free. I'll leave my '09 Honda Civic in there and always be able to return easily and have a vehicle and winter cloths etc. Last week I got a portable mail box address from...

    Storage for medication

For years I've used a small hard cooler with four Rubbermade containers that fit exactly. It took me a long time and a lot of tests to find ones the right size that were truly waterproof. I would put ice in at least one, and depending on the number of family members either ice or meds in the...

Why was van dwelling the best choice?

I started with a car and a tent before moving up to a series of vans. The intention was to keep moving up and eventually have a nice class A. I learned a lot over the decades and decided that for me simplicity and stealth camping were very important. So I stopped at the tall van and am now in...
