    12 or 24 volt?

Not if the panels have bypass diodes installed which "12volt" panels do, or at least the ones I've seen. I put three panels on the top of my van and one on the drivers side and one on the passenger's side, all in series. I could tilt the drivers side panel up horizontally and the passenger side...

    Inherited New RV/Camping toilet

For the past 8 years I've lived in a van and used the bucket and plastic bag method. I tried using a bag and kitty litter but believe me, that is a smelly proposition. What I do is before doing my business, is pee in a jug so there isn't much pee in with the poop. I don't worry about smell as I...

    Duolingo

Good for you! Keep it up. I'm also doing the minimum to keep my streak going (now at 865 days) without missing one. Even with that many days, when I listen to a Spanish speaking person (I'm in Arizona) I can only pick out words and not what they are saying. If I take my time I can say simple...

    Is public drinking water safe?

Yep, I do believe that people are a little too paranoid now days. Excuse me, I'm thirsty. Going to go chug a lug out of the garden hose.

    Is public drinking water safe?

I too only drink tap water, no matter where I am in the USA. I'm not falling for the Bottled Water Boondoggle.

    Duolingo

I'm 682 days into Duolingo without missing a day. I like it but should spend more time at it as I'm still in present tense sentences.

    Need better mirrors

I used to add those little mirrors on my big mirrors too until I found out that if one adjusts their mirrors correctly there IS NOT a blind spot. Learn something every day I told myself. Norm

Sold Listing my box van on Craigslist

Thank you. The drivers side panel pivots at the top and is held in the upright position with PVC pipe. While in the down position, it meshes with aluminum angle and is bolted with 1/4" bolts. The passenger side panel is generally left where it is but can be removed with six 5/16" bolts and...

Sold Listing my box van on Craigslist

I haven't followed this site long enough to know if one can post a vehicle for sale but I guess I'll find out. https://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/rvs/d/casa-grande-van-build-rv/7423766144.html After almost 8 years of this van being my home as a nomad, I’ve decided to sell it and go back to a...

Off-road starting place, the ultimate box van?

    Did you mean 1.5mpg?  :)

    Box Van Conversion

I'd say no less limited than a pickup and camper unless the pickup is 4WD. The box on mine is just an inch wider than the widest part of the cab and about 9' high including the cover over the Fantastic fan.

    what bike? (motorbike)

Love my 279 lb (wet) fat tired 2007 Yamaha TW200. I haul it around on the back of my Chevy 1 ton box van. With stock gearing it redlines at 55mph but a change in sprockets would allow a faster top speed. Works especially good in the sandy desert. ...

    Box Van Conversion

I bought a 10' box van on Ebay January of 2014, made it liveable and have been living and traveling in it since the spring of that year. Love it. Ask away.

    I'm looking for jugs

If space is at a premium as it is in my van, I choose to use my pan. All I have is a sauce pan and a fry pan and get along fine.

Personal cleaning options for long term camping

I set up my van with a 22"X32" tub I bought at Lowes to stand in...velcro a shower curtain to the ceiling and heat up about 2-3 quarts of water and put it in a gallon jug with a few 1/8" holes drilled in the lid. Wet down, soap up, rinse off...works great. But after a while I found that a couple...
