If you're gonna do that, put a new water pump, thermostat and new plugs while you're at it

Check the plenum gasket and look for rust, especially toward the rear, all common problems with dodges of that era

A lot of trucking companies will pay you to train for your CDL. Then you'd have a job and a living situation all in one go. Plus, they make good money and drivers are increasingly diverse so you won't have to worry about those types as much.

Well, just a quick update for those that care. I finish my welding program in a few months and have started to explore options. I have an application in with the merchant marines right now, I should find out in a few weeks if I've been accepted or not. If that fails, not sure what I'll do just yet.
