According to the 4th amendment of the constitution your house cannot be taken from you, searched, seized etc. If a person is living out of their vehicle then by definition it is their home. That's also why police need a warrant in order to search your vehicle unless you give them verbal permission.

We were looked at funny and treated like our money was no good and having to help us was a chore when we were in Buffalo, WY. Stayed night at local motel and staff there were friendly but that was it. Even the owner of the local second hand shop was short with us and we were donating items to him.
