TX Gulf beach camping during summer

Last time I was at PINS, a couple of years ago, there was a private campground on the way down that offered use of their dump station and refill with fresh water at the bargain price of $4. Any basic needs can be met within easy driving distance of the beaches, and locals not only seem to...

    Social security

I believe withholding care is happening, and has been for years. Not going to try to spark a debate about that, but this is my informed opinion. If you’ve followed articles the last year or two about the withholding of Paxlovid from millions with Covid, when it could have saved lives, that is...

TX Gulf beach camping during summer

If you have never been to Grand Isle State Park in Louisiana, it is not only a long but spectacular drive down there, but a beach. ☺️

TX Gulf beach camping during summer

I believe you are wrong about this, JohnnyM, unless something has JUST changed. One can camp for free on the beaches in Texas at Padre Island, Padre Island National Seashore, and off Port Bolivar just north of Galveston.

Wow, what a kind and generous introduction. ☺️ Welcome.

    Inexpensive meals and eating

eDJ, you are showing a real expertise with this cooking information, and I’m impressed. ☺️ I believe that everyone should know how to make a basic pan bread, in addition to main dishes. Many simple breads can be cooked in a skillet with a lid.

    Carla's Camper

My thought, here, Carla, is to suggest that you not cut off your nose to spite your face, as my mother would say. 😅 There are people from all over the country, Canada and some from Europe out there traveling. They are interesting to meet and talk with, and the politics of the state one is in...

    When it's time to stop.

No, public campgrounds, state, county and federal that I have ever seen, don’t have any rule about how new your rig must be.

    Thanks, that sounds yummy. ☺️

    Inexpensive meals and eating

That sounds very tasty, eDJ, tho my problem is I like the idea of making a pot of bean soup…the frugality and basic nature of it…then feel like eating only a bowl or two. ☺️ I would be inclined to find a way to leave the peel on that potato, for the nutrition, maybe dicing it small and adding...

Aspiring Minimalist, getting stuck on keeping items just in case.

That’s a great idea, and I do that at home with a box for when the grands have their own places, and also an area for things to go to Goodwill. We can accumulate soooo much stuff.

Homelessness [split from Leadville and Salida Ranger Districts]

I read something the other day about the huge number of empty office buildings in this country, potentially being turned into housing.

    Inexpensive meals and eating

I’m not a big consumer of ramen noodles, but many like them because they are inexpensive, and filling. Cook your noodles, beat a couple of eggs, and stir them into the hot broth. A little extra heat, cover for a minute or two, eggs are cooked and add nutrition to an otherwise carb-only meal...

All metal trailers without OSB/plywood walls?

And, ya know, posting requests for information on a public forum full of strangers is not like talking with your best friend about your options. Some don’t understand that, it seems, and are quick to take offense.

Sad, but maybe not throw in the towel completely until this is over and you can get some perspective on it. At least, speaking just for myself, in the midst of chaos is not the best time to make major decisions. 😅

    30 amp or 50 amp?

Yep, I always do 30 amp unless 50 amp is all that is available, which sometimes happens, so it is good to carry a 30-50 amp adapter as well as one for 30 amp to household current.

We don’t all do Facebook, so it would be helpful if regular updates to important things were posted here, as well. ☺️
