    Stealth spots in Yuma (AZ)?

Hey Al, We're in two Nissan NV full size cargo vans. Almost There, will definitely check out that BLM land tomorrow. For some reason, Freecampsites.net has been down all afternoon. That's why I started this thread. I use them often. Steve and I are city folk and have no problems with noise...

    Stealth spots in Yuma (AZ)?

We're stuck in Yuma for the next few days and have the two vans. It looks like Walmart is out of the question with "No parking" signs. I don't want to go to California for the typical reasons. I have my regular go to spots, but since I've never been in Yuma stealthing,  I wonder if anyone has...

Self Inflating mattresses when used full time

We had a Thermorest double mattress that was used cumulatively for years. I bought it from REI in 1996 and finally, in 2016 or 2017, one side's valve would no longer hold air. That thing went everywhere and was packed up and unpacked from the stuff sack countless times. It saw a lot of harsh...

Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement (SECURE) Act

"And in the USA, we have several means of aiding people with issues that they can’t afford." After you have spent all your assets down to qualify for Medicaid. Unless you have the means to set up a trust to prevent that, i.e., you are a Haves or Haves More. And if you are on Medicare and have...

    Camco Olympian Wave 3 Heater

Here's a photo of my Wave 3 attached to the side of a cabinet facing the bed. It was 29F this morning, but 62F inside. We did put in lots of insulation,  though- that helps bunches.

Which is your favorite gym and why?

My favorite gyms are the community centers in most towns where I can go to swim/exercise/shower. Sometimes it's the Y, but more often it's a local community/aquatic center. I've paid free to $4 max for the above privileges for a day. My last community shower was at a YMCA-free for a shower...

Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement (SECURE) Act

It is disingenuous to compare the USA with Gambia. The biggest problem as far as supporting the aged here and elsewhere in the world is the decline of the multigenerational household (think of the Walton's). The nuclear family typically has no room for the grandparents, or if they do, there is...

Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement (SECURE) Act

Yeah, its wonderful for the Haves and the Haves Mores... From Bloomberg: "The bad news is that almost half of Americans approaching retirement have nothing saved in a 401(k) or other individual account. The good news is that the new estimate, from the U.S. Government Accountability Office, is...

    Fun with phone scammers

I respectfully take issue with hassling phone solicitors. Most of them are poor folks just getting by, trying to make a poor-paying living. Often it is the only job available for people. I worked in multiple call centers as an RN and they, as well as I did, are graded on the number of calls...

    Supreme Court blocks prosecuting homeless

This has applicability to urban  vandwellers: The 9th Circuit Court of Appeal's ruling that cities cannot prosecute the homeless if there are not enough shelter beds available has been left standing by th Supreme Court...

Is doing my finances on my phone safe?

I use a VPN, Private Internet Access. They have an app for your phone. That way everything your do is through the VPN. I think I paid $2.33 a month by buying multiple months. My computer guru son uses this one and I trust him implicitly. Ted

Thanjs for the question-the link is: http://nissannvforum.com/topic/1110-new-camper-conversion-in-tucson/ As far as the price is concerned, for those who know me, I prefer fair win/win situations without playing games. I'm moving the funds around to pay her off and will start the inventory...

Will be selling 2016 NV3500 SL hightop 27,000miles

Hi all, As you regular readers know, Hubby and I have two NV high tops. Well, the best laid plans sometimes don't go as foreseen and we've  hardly used my 3500 (Blanca). We originally converted her for the two of us for full-timing.  I haven't gotten all the info together, but we'll be asking in...

    Ventilation & Fantastic Fan

I crack my front windows about 1/3" and crack the vent just a tad when I have the Wave 3 on. A tiny tad once it gets down in the 20s. I also have smoke/CO alarm. I'm warm enough under the quilts, but I won't get out of bed without that heater. Ted

    Floor Vents

We have two four inch diameter floor vents in the backs of our vans. Primarily in order to stealth with the windows closed and using just the overhead fan on low. They work well, but its important to close them up before driving. We have a varmint screen on the bottom, then the screen and then...

If you were planning to go up Mt.Lemmon-closed for fire

Since it was pretty warm in Tucson today,  we hung out up on the mountain.  We were just told to leave by the sheriff "the fire will be over the hill in 5 minutes". Sure enough, a mile down the Catalina Highway, there were brush fires dotted all over the hills, some within 30 feet above the...

    Van Life Lessons Learned

On the road two years this month. For me the most important thing I've learned is to make sure I can make coffee in the morning. Everything else I can cope with, as long as I have my coffee. It can even be instant coffee. I have always been the only female in my household. But as far as the...
