I'm thinking of using an AC fridge instead of DC. How much less efficient is an AC fridge with an inverter compared to a

Someone will have to help with the math ( inverter losses etc) , but the ac only fridge that someone put in my 5 th wheel drew. 9 ( point nine) amps at 115 vacate. I gave it away and put in a 3 way fridge because I wanted the versitility a three way offers. The plate on the 3 way says it draws 8...

    $10 Score :D

Nice find! I prefer the propane ones, but I understand having a backup. I have a pyromid multi fuel folding grill, a single burner propane, a micro Max backpack stove and a good old fashioned flint and steel for campfire. Uggg, grunt, fire. Fire good. ;0)

    Roll Call

Cool for you! I am in Ft Worth, Tx. Just began a new job that should last a year or so. Full timing in the fifth wheel at a Rv park. I also have my building tools and backpack and trail gear with me, so if someone needs help with a build or wants to get together for the weekend.

    Two finalists to choose from...

Personally, all things being equal, they are about the same. One with lower engine miles is $700 more. Not a real deal breaker, but still. Id offer both 75% of their asking price and work from there. Edited to add My bus was a 2000 Gmc with the same engine and tranny combo. Never had a...

Poooooop! Brakes burnt out, now no house power!???

Those two systems ( brakes and house battery) should be in no way connected. Hopefully no major damage.

Will RV dealers take a car as a trade in?

I've seen cars for sale at Rv dealerships. I would have to assume that they were trade ins. Some will, some will not. You will get best value though if you sell outright yourself or as was suggested a private owner trade.

    headin to Dallas/Ft Worth

Jeez, what a crazy day. I got an hour from home, and realized I forgot my SS card. Had to turn around and go back and get it. Just south of Tuscaloosa, Al, I blew a tire on the fifth wheel. Got it changed on the highway with a spare that had a few better days, so decided to limp to a walnart...

    headin to Dallas/Ft Worth

Hi folks. Yes, I got the call. Headed to Ft. Worth tomorrow midmorning, arrive fri afternoon after stopping overnight somewhere along the way. The job appears to be smack dab in the middle of Ft Worth, ok N Calhoun St. I also found a Rv park that I can afford about 15 miles away. I'm told it is...

small 12v setup. advice? am I crazy?

Amp hours is the capacity of the battery to do work. A 2.9 Ah battery will power a .5 amp O2 COOL fan for about 6 hrs if you ran the battery all the way down to nothing. A 12 Ah battery will run the same fan for 24 hours. See? BUT, since completly depleting the battery will damage it, its...

RVers what's your true mpg highway?

My 2000 Gmc Savannah minibus got 12.5 to 13.5. My 2004 f150 gets 21 empty and bout 12 towing my 88 excel 22' fifth wheel. This is one of the main reasons I went with a towable. Same mileage as my bus with twice the room when hooked up, almost twice the mileage when disconnected.

    Harbor Freight Solar Panels

Damned edit button... needs to be KOOLATRON, not " doorman "

    Harbor Freight Solar Panels

I had a HF solar kit on my bus. It worked well for my needs, which were minimal. Also had a (older) 12 v cooler by doorman, which was similar to the Koolatron. It drew EIGHT (8) amps an hour, and ran non stop. A true 12 v fridge might draw 2-3 amps, but only around 30% of the time. The cooler...
