What do you people do while living in your van?

Write. Walk the dogs. Gloat about the weather we've found compared to where we came from. Fix things up. Do a bit of hand laundry. Walk the dogs again.

Should I stay or should I go to the RTR?

Isn't there also something going on in Florida by way of get-together? That's a LOT closer to where you are!

Two posts up today on my blog, both about Sumner Lake, where we've been for about 10 days. Lovely place, and quiet now. http://simplegreenliving.com/5277/sumner-lake-favorite-new-mexico-state-park/ http://simplegreenliving.com/5316/sumner-lake-state-park-photogallery/

Traveling alone, ever worry about getting sick?

A solo fulltimer we met recently, who camps in remote spots a lot, had thought about this a lot. He owns a satellite device which I mentioned down the page a ways in my blog article about him: http://simplegreenliving.com/5164/bandanna-dan/ He also said that it had a feature he liked, that if...

    Panic attack

Just adding my best wishes to all the good ideas here. We've been out on the road for 2 1/2 weeks now, and it's beginning to seem like something I could do for a long, long time!

My little dog has died~ I'm devestated

How painful this must be for you. I'm sure she missed you in the foster home, but it sounds like you made a good choice in a difficult situation. People have their own beliefs about what happens after death, whether for us humans or for our pets. I believe we all continue, and if you are...

If you go there and the pages don't show up sometime in the next few days, it would be because I am moving my sites from one webhost to another.

    Travel in "The Cabin"

Met a guy recently who would fit right in here, had him over for dinner, and blogged about his adventures: http://simplegreenliving.com/5164/bandanna-dan/ And of course I told him about this place!

    Travel in "The Cabin"

NM *was* very cold last week, but it's nicer now. We got our pass -- we had one before, I think it was 12 years ago, and once we saw the miles per gallon we were getting as we came south from Colorado, long distance travel seemed less appealing. I'm not going to post the amount till we checked...

    Travel in "The Cabin"

Our nickname for our class C 1982 Tioga that my husband has fixed up this year is "the cabin," and we're getting ready to leave our small town in Colorado for about 6 months... it was going to be day after tomorrow, but we looked at our lists of things to do, checked the weather forecasts, and...

Three day weekend adventure in Oklahoma

What a nice weekend and what a nice description! I've peed in our rigs in many strange situations... probably the weirdest was when we were roaming around Guatemala and Mexico, back in the old days--guess it was around 1979--in a Ford econoline van we'd fitted out. The small portapotti was...

    I can't believe..

Regarding the book "Your Money or Your Life," I haven't re-read it in the past few years but I think its investment recommendations are probably quite dated unless they have revised them. Otherwise, that book did a huge amount to keep us on track years ago!

    Reflectix as removable window insulation

I've never shrink wrapped a house but have used reflectix for years on many different vehicles we've lived in and love it. It really makes a difference!

    Storage

For cheap, I use various size cardboard boxes. For best, I use a variety of plastic bins and shelves, usually obtained at Walmart.

    Van-Tramp adventures 2014 (part 2)

What ABOUT that view! I'm cleaning out my home office, shouldn't even be here, but that gave me inspiration to keep working day and night. WEather permitting we'll be out of Colorado in a week or so.

Is Winter Storm Astro Affecting You, or Going to?

Hi everybody -- The wind has hit 30 mph here at our house in south central Colorado, and the temps are dropping. We're barely on the edge of the storm zone, but it's already affected our departure date. When our housesitter told us he couldn't be ready till next week, that was fine with us, not...
