how we secured the rear of my chevy express

If you have a fire in the forward area of the van how do you plan to get out?

Anybody try these? [Ryobi Inverter Product]

It’s a modified sine wave, it will damage electronics. Neat idea if it was a PSW.

    Inverter size and brand?

9% on 1 star rating on Amazon. That pretty bad IMO. Read some I think you will think twice. POS

I found a "free" inverter in my van!

Check the back and see if there is a compressor that will tell you if it’s a fridge. The small Dandy that I replaced was a fridge /w compressor

I found a "free" inverter in my van!

A good ballpark rule of thumb with microwaves is whatever it advertised at the wattage to run it will be 2X so if your have a 800w microwave it’s going to take 1600w to run it. I found a GE microwave with a rounded back to fit in a corner on a countertop. Rated at 400 so it takes 800 to run it...

I found a "free" inverter in my van!

You would be pushing your inverter pretty hard, math is correct, should work. My 4.5 cf Danby Spec sheet says 1A, the meter on the inverter says 70W so somewhere between 115-70. We used to have a smaller one but we put so much stuff in it, it didn’t work correctly letting cold air to circulate...

We also have a 140A HD alternator with a Blue Seas Systems ACR battery link for charging the house batteries while driving.

another generator option...Use Your Car/Truck for Portable AC Power

Here is a concept, mount a regular inverter inside your vehicle so water wouldn’t be an issue. So I’m suppose to let my truck idle for 10 hrs while I charge my house batteries? And this is more efficient than a generator? My Yamaha EUi 2000 uses around 1 gal for 10 hrs. My truck idling for...

Any data on daily usage for refrigerators?

    The power in Japan is 100v @ 60hz and some places 50hz U.S. is 120v @60hz

Any data on daily usage for refrigerators?

I really didn’t care about the warranty, the Danby it replaced that was the small model was in the van for over 10 years and was surprisingly still working when I replaced it. It was just too small. Plus the cost difference for a RV or Marine fridge I could buy 2. The new one has been working...

Any data on daily usage for refrigerators?

When I upgraded my galley and went with a larger fridge, a 4.5 cu ft Danby. Which is one of the few energy star rated small “Dorm” fridges. To dissipate the heat from the compressor and outside walls. I mounted 24volt cooling fans on the compressor and one on the outside wall on the cabinet...

    Freaking out, head gasket blew

If you can get the head off as a last ditch attempt there is a product called MarineTex, it’s a 2 part epoxy that has the consistency of toothpaste when mixed. Had an engine where the block and heads were so corroded it was getting water in the cylinders, a new gasket would not have helped...

Alternatives to polyester for hot day clothing

I like the Columbia PFG long sleeve. Super lite, vented across the back, nice big pockets. SPF 50, it’s the weave of the fabric that gives it the SPF, I always thought it was some chemical spray until I went to a Columbia training seminar where I used to work, after it was over you had your pick...

I Need Some Advice On T.V. Service In My Van

When you mentioned over the air analog TV, this is incorrect. All over the air is digital, analog is long gone. If you plan to be near any metro areas you should be able to get lots of channels. Now digital OTA each channel has sub-channels. For example analog channel 2 is 1 channel now it would...
