    Feel safer urban boondocking?

Thanks for this article. Another quote that applies is: "We may be afraid of strangers, but it is the most intimate of strangers -- a husband, a lover, a friend -- who is most likely to hurt us. According to a U.S. Justice Department study, two-thirds of violent attacks against women are...

    Broken heart by a Non-nomad

Wow. To me he sounds like a control freak and you were brilliant in extricating yourself quickly, before things got too far. Sorry you are feeling broken hearted but I think you avoided years of grief. Good for you! ~hugs~

Does anyone have a compact laser SCANNER?

It's not clear if you want to scan images or documents but I think you want documents, based on the rant about PDFs. :) But if it's photos you want to scan, I just bought the most wonderful little device that is portable and FAST. Takes just a few seconds to scan a photo and if you have a big...

Soon to be full time in a GMC Yukon

Well now, I've been looking at vans but I'm wondering if I should be looking for a Yukon instead. Looks comfy and cozy.

    Keeping Cat Box Smell Down

I recently adopted two rescue kittens and tried a few different brands of litter before I landed on one - Blue Buffalo Naturally Fresh Walnut Based Litter for Cats. It clumps really well and is easy to clean, plus it seems to control odor the best of all of the ones I tried.

Insulating a van with a curved/uneven surface with polyiso

Bob has a couple of really good videos on the subject (I just happened to watch them recently):

Newby - Am I too old to start?

Welcome Jann! I am almost 60 and I have been having similar thoughts. I am thinking and scheming and I think I will be hitting the road within the next year, two at the most. It's our time now, girlfriend. We may as well enjoy the last half of our lives as much as we can. We've been taking care...

light the night with a Monarch

Love it! I remember growing up in northern British Columbia we used the kerosene lamps a lot when the power went out. Which was often back in those days. Thanks for the memories.

WOMENS' FORUM: Do you use your van to take vacations from unhappy husbands

Nora, this sounds exactly like what I am going through - but my husband won't sell and he won't go for van travel. I think our days as a couple are numbered. In answer to the OP's question, yes. I used to get away by myself as much as I could, but one day I just had to leave for good. I...

WOMEN ONLY: Calling full-time FEMALE nomads

Well hello Dawn! Nice to meet you! Post a link to your blog when you get it going again. I have one as well but it's been way too long since I posted anything of value so I'll wait until I get it going again before I share. Safe travels. Keep us in the loop!

    Need encouragement

I'm sure you've thought of this but I'll put it out there anyway. Is there anyone in your family you can tell this to? Anyone you could open your heart to and tell them they'll lose you if they don't learn to accept you as you are? Let them know how your heart is breaking? You sound like...

    "Butterflies" is an understatement!

Thanks for the really great update, FibroWarrior! The upside of doing so much repair is that you get to know every square inch of your RV very well. Keep us posted as you travel. Some of us are still dreaming of the transition and I, for one, will be living vicariously through you! :)

For those that view long distance road trips as a waste, why?

Do you think it is different if folks are actually living in their RVs? I imagine you'd have a much smaller footprint and would use much less fuel and electricity, etc., than in a bricks and mortar home. (Speculating here. I haven't actually done the research.)

There is now a second road to the Arctic Ocean in North America.

It has long been a dream of mine to drive the Dempster Highway. I adore the far north!

    Best refrigeration methods

I'm sold. This saves me a lot of research. Can I ask which brand you landed on? I imagine there are good and bad 12v refrigerators out there. Thanks for the great post!

    Many Conflicting Thoughts

Bingo. This is probably the most telling and important thing you've said. I think this is what you need to pay attention to. Hugs from a fellow nomad.
