Hi, in my E-150 conversion van with sportsmobile penthouse top there is lots of metal (covered with fabric) and I use magnets in 4 places. I fold up and put it away during the day. No rod necessary.

I was very lucky, after a long time on Craigslist someone finally bought the set (bench seat and 2 passenger seats).  As I remember only got $175 for all, but sure better than nothing.

I have a 2003 Ford E-150, bought the swivel base (passenger front only) from Sportmobile online store. Pricey, but excellent quality. $60 to install, guy said easy peasy. (connections under seat..no problem)   BTW, I love it, great upgrade to van.

nice meeting you headache and abnorm, not the nicest of situations though!  i'm still hanging in lake havasu so don't hesitate to call if you need anything (other than mechanical). :P  breakdowns are bad, but everyone is safe..and that's a blessing
