I just bought my first camper van!

I'll definitely try to get some interior pictures tomorrow. I've got to do a major cleaning job on it anyhow. How can a teenager be out of the van most of the day...have me constantly picking up and cleaning behind him....and it still looks like something that the Huns sacked?

    Alternative cooling

You could buy a lot of ice for that kind of money. If you sew, or know someone that does, make a vest with interior pockets the size of the gel packs that you can get at the dollar store and put in the freezer. You could put the gel packs in an ice cooler if you don't have a...

    Hi everybody

My ex has a 1991 Chevy extended cab truck and oh boy is that thing tough! We took it to the jungles of Mexico for a year where the suspension and the 4 wheel drive were tested on a daily basis. It's lived in the desert and gone places that no vehicle(not even a 4X4) should go.&nbsp...

I just bought my first camper van!

I checked on a transmission cooler today Slowday and the mechanic says that I have a really nice transmission cooling system built in by the manufacturer. Excellent suggestion!

I'm sitting in the mechanic's waiting area again while waiting for them to get a 7 point plug wired in...

    Compare to just a motel

I'm one of those people that loves to play with numbers (ok...I'm frugal). I hesitated to get an RV/Van for several years because I mistakenly thought it would be more expensive to travel in one.

Let's look at an average traveling day of lets say 300 miles. My camper van gets...

I just bought my first camper van!

LOL...fortunately I don't need any practice. I used to be a truck driver. I'm parked in front of the carport so that I can hopefully work on installing tie downs in the trailer in the shade. Shade is pretty precious stuff out here in the Chihuahuan desert!

I just bought my first camper van!

I was finally able to get pictures! Here's my camper van and new cargo trailer. I loaded the motorcycle and 4 wheeler into the trailer and it was a perfect fit. I was sweating that a bit.

I'll post interior pictures after I get back from this short camping trip...

    Thermal Cooker Lamb Stew..... Yum-a-Licious

I'm glad to hear another positive plug for thermal cooking. I just ordered several nissan thermos's and one of these <a href="http://www.thermalmagic.com/THERMOS-Shuttle-Chef-KPS8000-8L-Thermal/M/B0040RFQAS.htm" rel="nofollow"...

How do you wash your traveling companion?

I love the doggie washes at some of the car washes. It is so much easier on my back. I wish there was a directory of where they are located.

I'm not familiar with Pet People stores. I'll keep an eye out. Thanks for the tip!

When I had a grooming shop I had...

Getting ready to become one of the few.....or many?

Sorry to hear about your misfortune, but I sure am glad you are ok. At least you are looking at short term debt rather than long term....and, you have a plan! Excellent!

Getting ready to become one of the few.....or many?

Welcome! My bit of advice is to not go into debt if you don't have to. Not having debt gives you an amazing amount of freedom. I was able to retire when I was 35 because I was debt free. Good luck.

    Entertainment while boondocking, specifically radio.

I also have a lifetime subscription to satellite radio. I expect it to work everywhere. If it worked on the side of a mountain in dense jungle in southern Mexico....it will work anywhere! I'm looking for a new car kit to be installed in my new camper van.

I don't...

Need recommendations for outfitting my camper van

Thanks for mentioning a radio Katelynn! I almost forgot. I bought a life time subscription to Sirius satellite radio and I need to get a new 'car kit' so that I can have it installed in my van.

Solar showers....that will fix a problem I'd been pondering on. My...

Need recommendations for outfitting my camper van

Yes, I had the van in the shop yesterday. I had the transmission serviced, an oil change and had them check out the rear end. I was afraid I might need a new fuel pump because my gas gauge doesn't work. They checked out the fuel pump and said it was fine. It is the sender...

Need recommendations for outfitting my camper van

I'm taking my new camper van on a short camping trip with my best little buddy next week. I'm sure that will show me some of the areas that I need equipment in. LOL....it will also probably make me glad that I will be solo most of the time too!

I'll be pulling a 14 foot cargo...

How do you wash your traveling companion?

Your 4 footed traveling companion that is. My camper van has the toilet setting in a tiny little shower pan. If I were to try and set my mini schnauzer down into the miniscule corner to bathe him I'd be standing on my head. My 'kitchen' sink is postage stamp size.

I'm...
