Not sure what you read that scared you, cept maybe the heat in the summer, which is a valid concern...not for the lite of heart, but good practice to learn survival in hot weather.

We go to the visitor rest stop between Calpatria and Brawley and fill up either our rigs, or our own water...

    Conversion Van Mileage?

I'm confused with this thread...I'm not a techie. I am looking for a van for summer travel (Slab City in the summer was ROUGH!). So is 18-20 highway realistic for e-con vans? Also, would LOVE to see inside pics of this lovely van pictured...

A surprise deal on a great generator!

WOW! I did not know you could do that! I'm going to recommend your suggestion to the little ol man at the slabs that has fallen several times while getting up in the wee hours to add gas to his generator during the hot summer months here. (Poor guy).
Thanks for the suggestion!

FOR WOMEN ONLY: Solo women and protection/safety on the road

This is AWESOME! LIKE! I have hooked up with one or two ladies/men from groups such as Loners on Wheels when traveling...I find good spots this way from more experienced RVers. We could also suggest caravan ideas if we are headed somewhere. Drop off or hook up as needed.

I have...

    Slab City Sisters
"I really must keep more open of a mind or I may someday get STUCK in reality." (Robi's change, hehe).

Living in this type community, we aim to get along. We strive to learn each others boundaries and respect them. Works better that way.

It's all good.

    Hello Fellow Rvers!

Hello Fellow Rvers! I started this journey, living in an RV fulltime (with two dogs), about a year and a half ago. I had some wonderful support from one of the members here as well as others I met on RV group websites.

I stuck it out in Slab City this summer to see what it...

    Slab City Sisters

It's a desert. There are few trees. There are people out here that own cats. Yes, there are dogs roaming without leashes (although the dog catchers DO sometimes come out and pick up unleashed dogs).

I have never heard of a "Slab Dog" killing a cat...

    Slab City Sisters

So disappointing that one would make that judgement without actually knowing the details.

I'm the one hosting the first party. I am the organizer. I live in Slab City FULL TIME (Summer's included) so I understand the dynamics of this place very well. I...
