    Info On Common Vans

Gotcha. Obviously it's been a long time since I've taken a valve cover off! Thanks.

    Slab City

It's a very interesting place, definitely worth a visit. It's near the Salton Sea in southern California: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Slab+City,+CA+92233/@33.2579686,-115.4798448,14z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x80d0b20527ca5ebf:0xa7f292448cbd1988!8m2!3d33.2579703!4d-115.4623352...

    Info On Common Vans

I have an '04 5.4L... is there a common/easy fix to this, such as replacing the valve covers with a later version?

    portable shower stalls

I haven't done it yet. My plan would be mostly to use it when boondocking, with biodegradable soap and away from water sources. I wouldn't have a problem using it in a campground, but would have to base that decision on the specific situation/vibe.

    Which Tools?

I would also strongly suggest looking into using pocket holes. They're a new discovery for me and absolutely elevated my project. https://www.amazon.com/Kreg-R3-Pocket-Hole-System/dp/B000J43A7W

    portable shower stalls

I recently bought this pop-up for $30 to use as a toilet and shower: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AT3T0GC/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I haven't "used" it yet. It sets up in 10 seconds or less (not counting stakes of course). I could NOT figure out how to pack it away...

    Sine or Modified Sine Inverter?

Out of curiosity, can you quantify that in AWG please? My inverter came with cables that I would guess to be about 4-6AWG.

Chevy Express / GMC Savanna / Ford Econoline

I voted Ford because I have an '04 E350 and I'm just more familiar with Ford. In reality, Ford or Chevy/GMC won't really matter. Specific years and engines may indeed matter, but I'm not qualified to give you a breakdown of that. I'll second the notion of the 3500/350 class. You want the power...

What an exciting time! I think the nervousness is all part of the advanture!

Thanks! I oriented my 1x3's specifically to maximize the size of my drawers, for example the top cross bar over my drawers is laying flat even though I think it would support my weight on the bed a little better if it was stood up on it's skinny edge. But then it would have protruded down into...

How to Live on 100 watts of Solar

I don't know yet. I just got it last week and I'm building my cabinets and electrical system now. I'll have to get back to you on that in the future!

The channels in my roof are maybe 1/2" deep and my fan mount crosses two of them... so I have four channels to dam up with some type of seal. My first plan was layers of butyl tape, but that doesn't seem great. Now I feel like I should add something to that, and was considering using this...

Anyone using 24 Volts or higher?

You have the option of keeping them separate, and I think many do. In my case, I'm going to connect them so my alternator will charge my house batteries while I'm driving.

How to Live on 100 watts of Solar

Got it. My plan was to put a switch on the counter so that if I was using it occasionally during meal prep and cleanup, I would leave it switched on that entire time but the pump would only run when needed. I also got a pressure accumulator... I hear it will reduce how often the pump cycles on...

Quick questions on solar integration in an RV

Thanks to both of you. I haven't been able to find charging specs for my batteries yet, but I'll keep looking. (I have two of these)

How to Live on 100 watts of Solar

That's hilarious. I was trying to imagine from a power perspective a safe number, thinking surely a couple quick washes wouldn't run the pump for more than 30 min/day. I didn't stop to think about how much water that would be! I haven't actually powered my pump yet, so I'm waiting to see how...

The switch from Car Camping to Vanlife!

Ah, that seems a little more reasonable! We slept in the van all 4 nights. First night on a turnout near Lone Pine (eastern Sierra Nevadas), second night a cool free campground with tables and rings in northeastern CA, third night on a forest road in Malheur NF in OR. The last night we actually...

How to Live on 100 watts of Solar

I'm a newb at this stuff but let me give it a go... Each of these devices provides the power expectations a little differently, so the path to Amp-hours varies: Indel-B TB-51 fridge... spec sheet says avg 240W/day (=240Wh?) -> on 12v = 20Ah per day LED lights... rated at 3W, assume 4hr/day =...
