Went to Safeway for groceries. They don't have MSG there. I even looked at the Asian foods aisle. I remember it used to be on the spices aisle. Was looking through for a good 5 minutes.. I know where to go get it though.

I still have part of an old bottle from years ago. I haven't seen it on the store shelves for years now. This started in the late 60's when it began to disappear.
"Chinese Restaurant Syndrome" was the reason in the past when people complained of painful headaches after eating at Chinese Restaurants. I read an article in Time Magazine back then where they stated extensive use of MSG was common in those restaurants. It wasn't until after mid 70's that I got my first Wok and learned to cook the cuisine. But I didn't use the MSG in it as I used fresh ingredients and quality condiments so that I didn't have to goose up the taste/flavor using MSG as a catalyst.

What I would suggest is anyone wanting to try it, buy some and see for yourself. Don't take someone else word for it. Different people are said to react differently to it.

'Chinese Restaurant Syndrome' - what is it and is it racist?
