Go Power! Has Great Customer Service...
Hey, all! It’s been a little while since we have posted, but we are still always scanning posts. We have 1 month left before we start full time traveling! We can’t wait!!
About a month ago the wife and I secured full time jobs for both of us workamping this summer. We complete this job in early...
We bought this from Amazon $144 (there was a coupon when we bought it). It’s a 5” memory foam sleeper sofa mattress. We needed it to be able to fold completely in half (like a hotdog bun) for the custom murphy bed we have in our van. Works great! We got the short queen...
Hey, hey! Happy Saturday! Just wanted to pop back in here and add the most recent video my wife and I made. It’s a shorter video (less than 5 minutes) where we talk more about what got us into vanlife, and what our plans are for full time traveling and life on the road starting in March 2018!
We...
Also, we officially finished the Murphy Bed and folding table earlier this week when we installed the new locking pins for the dowel supports!! We are going camping this weekend, so we will get a chance to check everything out. Can't wait!! Thanks for all of your input and advice to help us get...
After thinking about it for a few days, you are right, HDR! I ordered the gate (and some bungees to hold it open) and just received them today, they work PERFECTLY! I was really concerned with the sturdiness of this type of gate, but they are SOLID when secured. Thanks!
I have a few 3/4" square dowels left over, those would be good for the vertical supports. You think 2x4 for the two main horizontal pieces, or something lighter? What would be good to use to secure the two together and still allow it to pivot?
I will get some measurements of the space later so...
So was doing a little brainstorming for the dog gate, and found these "vertical pivot gates" on the web. Do they make dog gates you can buy that are already like this?
It seems that these would take up very little space when stored completely vertical, but still be strong when down.
Thoughts?
Thanks!! Follow the build on this thread... https://vanlivingforum.com/Thread-Van-Tour-and-Modification-Thread
Let me know when you start building yours so I can follow along!
Just finished installing the “U” brackets and dowels for both the table support and the bed stabilizer today.
They are ROCK SOLID! Couldn’t be happier. The “U” brackets are meant to be used to hold up a bathroom stall wall, and are perfect for what I needed.
I am currently using the pins...
Still waiting on the “U” brackets to mount the dowels, so I don’t have the rear of the bed stabilized yet. But we took the van for a 60 mile drive, up to 65mph at times, and no rattle or noise from the bed or table! We were super impressed! And the bed seemed very stable even without the dowel!
I just ordered 3/4” square dowel rods, which I think will be perfect to support the table when it is in use! I also plan to use a rod at the back top of the bed when it is folded up to stabilize it while driving.
Was going to originally use a metal turn buckle, but I think the wood will make a...
The wife and I just posted a video tour of our high top van! Since we made the video, we have already completed some major modifications thanks to the advice/input of some forum members! This is such an amazing community!!
We will be continuing to post updates here as we continue upgrading...
We just installed a roof vent on our fiberglass high top, and used Dicor Butyl tape and one tube of lap sealant. Hope that helps! They also have “no sag” sealants that may work for the shore power inlet!
Been working hard on the build for the last 3 days. Will hopefully have the bed platform mounted after work today!
Here is a sneak peak. Before I could finish the bed and seal off the space under it, I had to design, build, and paint the drawer on the end. And I also had to cut out the holes...
