Are bears a huge problem up there that time of the year? Frankly, I have never camped in Flagstaff in the summer, so I am not really sure what to expect. I hope to have bear spray, but maybe tin lids and pots and spoons would be better to scare them away?? Maybe it's better with so many others...

Hi. My son and I are just getting started, very part time, getting used to van life. It's more of a bug out practice for us both, but once we get our travel trailer, we'll be more full time. Really looking forward to going this year to meet as many people as we can and learn what we can from them.

I am really worried about bears and mountain lions coming into my camp. At this point, I'm not sure I even want to chance it by going North in just a van. If we do, I don't plan on cooking. I'll just bring a really good, very well insulated cooler and things I can prepare, rather than cook...
