I caught a short news story yesterday.

The AVERAGE cost to rent a 700 sq ft, one bedroom apartment in Williston ND is $2,394 a month.

No, that is not a misprint.

The same size apartment would rent for $1500 in NY or Boston, $1400 in LA.

Williston is in the middle of an oil boom, and oil field workers are pouring in. Their population has doubled, to 30,000 people.

Imagine how many van dwellers they have there, now!

Regards
John

I also remember they are paying truck drivers like 200k per year, and the job market is goin nuts because of the natural gas reserves. I was thinking about it... now I'm not. Thanks. ;-)

I've known a bunch of guys who've moved there, and most have moved back home here. Like you've read, the cost of living is off the charts!

Another friend is heading there within the month, and plans to stay for maybe a year or so, and ca$h out and come home. A TT, van or RV is practically a must!

We met a guy in Pahrump, Nv that was buying TTs to haul up to the oil fields. He sold everything he took up in short order and was making out like a bandit.

I had the Weather Channel on this morning. At Minot ND, it's minus 14f. The wind chill is minus 48f.

I freeze at 50F.

It is around 10* here and now. Snow coming down over the layer of ice. I think I will take a brandy for the cold I feel coming on.
