There are times it is nice to disconnect and at times I shut all my devices down. It is by choice of course and it is always nice to have choices.

I don't connect if I don't want to because I don't feel a need to be connected 24/7 and never did. Phone co's want you to believe you must be connected and be reliant on devices. When out in field, I might go 3 months or more with no connection and I like it that way. If you don't do ham radio, then there is FRS/GMRS radio for emergencies & for contacts.

Well, I rely on wifi to do my job online.

And since humans are social animals, I also like staying in touch with friends and family.

My reasons:
Coaching clients via Skype or FaceTime.
Online research for my work.
Downloading videos and ebooks for entertainment.

You participate in an online message board, and, by your tag line, you go to RTRs. You connect when you want to connect and don't when you don't, just like everyone else. :-/

As much as I would love to sometimes my work requires access to the internet.
