Explorer is a high level trim from the conversion company. It almost always has big leather seats, lots of wood, lights, can have overhead mirrors, a vacuum, etc. The Explorer vans are "tricked" out more than say a Starcraft, Glaval or other brands.
Remember that the 1500 series all have the same (low) 7,000 lb gvwr, and the more customizing cr#p that's in them, the less payload you have left over for your things. That's the issue that I have with Explorers. Course, an overload helper spring set on the rear might level it out but that doesn't change/strengthen the axle, brakes or increase suspension limits. Get it weighed and compare that to the door sticker to be sure.
