I have a Eureka Dome tent from about 10 years ago. I've used it all year round, and it's held up pretty good so far. It's just large enough for myself when I'm on my motorcycle, but I wouldn't want to live in it for any length of time. With a tent, usage and things like mats and sleeping bags factor in a lot more then anywhere else.

There are so many Tents on the market. What brands seem to be the best?

Kelty - have had good ratings and I like the quality as commented online about them. Waterproof tub design works in a downpoor, and for windy conditions.

Sierra Designs - outstanding designs. Does not rip, tear., or come unstitched. poles do not fail.

What qualities are you specifically looking for? A tent you can stand up in or something really light weight? Easy to set up or perhaps bomb proof design in the worst weather?

Tents are designed for specific purposes and unless you qualify what your demands of this piece of equipment are going to be its very difficult to provide an objective recommendation.
