I have a StarCraft soft side camper. In regards to using solar panels how much weight can the camper lift mechanism handle.

I want to put on solar panels but I don't want to cause an overload on the mechanism.

Thank you!

Mike

What year and what size of camper as it will probably vary some based on that? Do you have the owner's manual?

I do have it but it doesn't refer to that and apparently they don't support the Star Craft slide in campers any longer.

See if they offered roof AC as an option. I bet if they could lift and hold a roof AC solar would be possible.

I have the Heco based roof lift system on my Sun Light Sky Hawk...also have a roof air. The roof air is a Coleman Mach designed for pop ups, it's a bitch getting the roof up, but I have had no issues with the roof to date. I'm not easy on my truck, chased the Baja 1000 and the Mexican 1000 among numerous desert races. A Baja peninsula run is probably equivalent to a couple of years of normal wear/tear.
