I found this water tank thats the perfect size for me but it dont have a hole in the top for my hose to go into to pump the water out to my shower , , I'll have to modify a $200 tank  , that doesn't sound good plus the water inlet is'nt above the tank meaning that I wont be able to fill it all the way without the water running back out
Its 40 inch x 18 inch x 8 inch tall
Planning on putting it under my passenger seat

Mobilesport: the drawing in the picture shows the "standard" fittings. Many times the manufacturers of the tank will put the fittings any where you would like for a nominal upcharge.

You should contact the maker of the tank and discuss your specific requirements with them.

Just a suggestion . . .

Pretty sure you're looking at a tank meant to install tall-ways... but plasticmart will put them wherever you want, they make blanks and up to buyer to configure...

what they said ^. plasticmart will put the fittings anywhere you want them. also the water pump is meant to go where it says outlet. this keeps the pump primed a lot easier on the pump. also on the inlet just have a fill line above the tank you will be able to fill all the way. highdesertranger

Good info about pump line location , I always just dropped the hose in from the top to pump it out , I had no idea
I ended up buying a 40x18x6 inch tall , will fit easier under my seat , bought it blank so I'll cut my own holes.
$60 cheaper too

I could do the math but I am lazy right now. what does that work out to in gallons? highdesertranger

18 Gallons

$150 + $45 shipping = $195 total for the 18 gallon 40x18x6

$210 +$50 shipping =$260 total for the 23 gallon 40x18x8

A large part of the expense is to pay for the molds needed for each size, I would guess.

I wonder what it might cost to have a local welding or sheet-metal shop put something similar together from aluminum or stainless steel sheet metal as a one-off?

I've had one welded custom out of Polypropylene. Had a removable window panel made so I could clean it from time to time. Was shaped to fit the cavity I was installing it in, including a cutout for the tail light. I traded labor for it, but I'd figure it would be about $600-700 as the window required machine work, tapping, and stainless steel helicoils.

Just google "plastic fabricator" or "plastic welder" in your local city and you will find a shop that can make anything.

Plasticmart will do custom tanks. Unless you have free material and/or build it yourself, you're not going to save money...
