In case you are unaware, a little walkie talkie sized device that does not depend on the Internet or a cell tower...totally free to use, in fact...will get your message out in an emergency scenario when a cell phone wont.

It is not really difficult to do with a group.

There are many camera/audio meeting places.
(I recently got a dose of talkshoe and it works very well...only needs a phone for audio-only conferencing. Audio only might even be easier.)

Would any of you be interested in doing a group study for your tech license?

A simple radio can be had for under $100.

I've been looking into this too :)
Just picked up a couple of BaoFeng radios for emergencies a few weeks ago.

I've had one for 20 years , bought 2 long range radios, one early Heath HW-100 or 101?, had it gone thru & a 12v cable made & the last Heath made by Yausua. I live 1/2 hour from where Heath was, also Heald co who made very early plane kits then Boonie Bikes. I'd like to take them on the road. Here's a bit of history http://www.heathkit-museum.com/hvmhistory.shtml

Got my Tech last spring. I’d be interested in an online or virtual General. You get more bands to use with a General and that could be helpful in an emergency. We are in Great Northwest and emergency and 30+ days of supply the watchword.
